Senior Congress Leader, Former Union Minister Shriprakash Jaiswal Dies

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Shriprakash Jaiswal passed away at the age of 81.
He began public life as the Mayor of Kanpur in 1989 before entering national politics. He was elected Lok Sabha MP from Kanpur constituency for three consecutive times - 1999, 2004 and 2009 - on a Congress ticket.
During the UPA-2 government led by Dr. Manmohan Singh, Jaiswal held the crucial Coal portfolio and also briefly served as Minister of State for Home Affairs, handling important responsibilities related to internal security and law and order.

Bharatanatyam Legend Kumari Kamala Passes Away

Kumari Kamala, one of Indian cinema's earliest child prodigies and a pioneering classical danseuse on film, passed away in the United States at the age of 91. A child prodigy who became one of the finest exponents of Bharatanatyam, Kamala's death marked the end of an era deeply tied to the transformation of Sadir into Bharatanatyam — India's most renowned classical dance form.
Her legacy as a performer, teacher, and global ambassador of Indian dance is unparalleled, and her contributions have left a lasting impact on generations of artists in India and abroad.
Kamala was among the few surviving links to a historic transformation in Indian performing arts — when the temple dance form of Sadir evolved into Bharatanatyam, suitable for the proscenium stage and public platforms in the 20th century.
Kumari Kamala's contributions were widely recognised through numerous awards,
Padma Bhushan (1970) – One of India's highest civilian honours, conferred for her excellence in the performing arts.
Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1968) – India's premier recognition in the field of music, dance, and drama.
US National Heritage Fellowship – Awarded in recognition of her work in promoting Bharatanatyam internationally, especially in the United States.

Rohit Sharma Named the Brand Ambassador of the 2026 T20 Men's World Cup

India's 2024 T20 World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma was named the brand ambassador of the 2026 T20 Men's World Cup when the schedule for the ICC event was announced in Mumbai.
Sharma, who has retired from Tests and T20Is but continues to be a part of the ODI setup, said that he was honoured that the ICC chose him as the ambassador, even though he still is a part of the Indian ODI team.

Dharmendra Passes Away

Bollywood mourned the loss of legendary and veteran actor Dharmendra who passed away in Mumbai at the age of 89, just days shy of his 90th birthday on December 8. Known affectionately as the 'He-Man of Bollywood', the veteran actor, whose unparalleled career spanned over six decades and 300 films.
Born Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol on December 8, 1935, in Nasrali, Punjab, he ventured into cinema in 1960 with the film 'Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere.' Dharmendra quickly rose to stardom in the mid-1960s with romantic and dramatic roles in films like 'Phool Aur Patthar' (1966) and 'Anupama' (1966).
His initial stardom was built on his striking good looks and ability to master both drama and comedy, as exemplified in Hrishikesh Mukerjee's 'Chupke Chupke.' He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award, in 2012.

The 74^th edition of the Miss Universe pageant marked another memorable moment in global pageantry. Hosted in Thailand, the 2025 event blended culture, competition, and world-class performances. It concluded with Mexico's Fátima Bosch capturing the crown, securing a proud victory for her country.
Fátima Bosch from Mexico outshone over 100 participants from around the world.
India's representative, Manika Vishwakarma, delivered a strong performance and advanced to the Top 12. Although she exited after the swimsuit round, she captured attention for her impactful advocacies.
