International Purple Fest

  • During the International Purple Fest Goa 2025, three transformative initiatives were unveiled to strengthen accessibility in listening, reading, and writing for persons with disabilities, marking a step forward in inclusive education and skill development.
  • The International Purple Fest Goa 2025, held from October 9 to 12, was a landmark global event promoting inclusion and accessibility. It was hosted by the Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Goa, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, and United Nations India. The Fest centred on cultivating inclusive thinking as the foundation for universal design.

Exposition of Buddha's Sacred Relics from India to Russia's Kalmykia Republic

  • The sacred Relics of the Buddha enshrined in the National Museum, New Delhi travelled to Russia's Kalmykia Republic for an exposition, accompanied by a high-level delegation of 11- senior Indian monks who will Bless the local devotees and conduct religious service for the predominantly Buddhist population of the region.
  • The Holy Relics received by Head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia, Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choidak, Batu Sergeyevich Khasikov, Head of Republic of Kalmykia and other eminent Buddhist Sangha members.
  • It may be recalled that it was the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche, the revered Buddhist monk and diplomat from Ladakh who played a pivotal role in reviving Buddhism in Mongolia and subsequently, also instrumental in reintroducing interest in Buddha dharma in the three regions of Russia, namely Buryatia, Kalmykia, and Tuva. 
  • The Holy Relics exposition, a first in the Russian Republic, is being organised by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in collaboration with the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), the National Museum, and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA). It is being held in the capital city of Elista from October 11-18, 2025.

India-UAE Hold Strategic Cultural Council Meeting to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

  • The Director-General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, K. Nandini Singla, concluded a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates on, highlighted by her co-chairing of the second Joint Steering Committee Meeting of the India-UAE Cultural Council alongside Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE.
  • The meeting, held in Abu Dhabi, built upon the foundation established during the first Joint Steering Committee Meeting in New Delhi in March this year (2025), when Minister Al Kaabi visited India. The Cultural Council Forum was established through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by both nations with the objective of strengthening the deep-rooted cultural and people-to-people bonds between India and the UAE.

Kerala Assembly Passes the Kerala Right to Public Service Bill

  • The Kerala Assembly passed the Kerala Right to Public Service Bill, which is aimed at ensuring the timely delivery of government services.
  • The Bill passed by the Assembly strengthens citizens' right to timely, transparent and accountable service delivery. The Bill also ensures a robust platform for addressing grievances, marking another step in people-centric governance," Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.
  • As per Kerala Law Minister P. Rajeeve, if the public does not get a service sought from an office within a specific period, the Bill has made provisions to levy a fine from the official responsible for that lapse.

NAKSHA Programme Transforms Urban Land Records in India

  • India took another major stride in digital governance with the launch of the NAKSHA Programme, a forward-looking initiative under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP). Designed to transform urban land management, NAKSHA aims to make land administration more transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly. The Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) hosted a two-day National Training-cum-Workshop on the NAKSHA Programme, bringing together District Magistrates and Collectors from various states to prepare for its nationwide implementation.
  • The NAKSHA Programme is a one-year pilot initiative focusing on urban land record modernisation.
  • It integrates geospatial mapping, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and Web-GIS technologies to create a comprehensive digital land database.
  • Its main objective is to realise the government's vision of "One Nation, One Land Record", ensuring accurate mapping, clear ownership authentication, and ease of public access to urban land records.

  • The Congress party declared former minister Pramod Jain Bhaya as its candidate for the Anta by-poll seat in Rajasthan's Baran district.
  • Bhaya is a three-time MLA and was a cabinet minister in the third Ashok Gehlot government between 2018 and 2023.

Government Launches 'Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0'

  • The Government launched the Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0 (TFYC 3.0), reaffirming its commitment to building a tobacco-free learning environment and protecting the health and well-being of students across the country.
  • The campaign has been jointly initiated by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. It marks a major step towards realising the Government's vision of a tobacco-free generation.
  • The 60-day national campaign aims to educate and empower young people to prevent tobacco use, support those who wish to quit, and foster a culture of health and wellness in schools and higher education institutions. States and Union Territories have been urged to strengthen the implementation of the Guidelines for Tobacco-Free Educational Institutions (ToFEI) and actively engage youth in awareness initiatives under TFYC 3.0.

NITI Aayog Unveils AI Roadmap to Empower 490 Million Informal Workers

  • NITI Aayog launched a pioneering roadmap titled 'AI for Inclusive Societal Development', a first-of-its-kind national effort to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and frontier technologies to transform the lives and livelihoods of India's 490 million informal workers.
  • The report, developed in partnership with Deloitte, marks a major shift in the national AI conversation. While global discourse has often focused on white-collar jobs and the formal economy, this study centers the informal sector — which contributes nearly half of India's GDP but remains outside formal protection and productivity systems.
  • The roadmap is available on NITI Aayog's website.
