Professor Neeraj Dwivedi Appointed as IIM Kashipur Director

  • The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur appointed Prof. Neeraj Dwivedi as its new director, bringing on board a seasoned academic and strategic leader with over 25 years of experience across education, industry, and executive leadership.
  • An alumnus of IIM Lucknow, Professor Dwivedi holds a Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) in Strategic Management. His academic journey also includes an MTech from IIT Kharagpur and a BTech from GB Pant University, Pantnagar, reflecting a strong foundation in both engineering and management disciplines.

Switzerland Clears First Malaria Medicine for Small Babies

  • Switzerland's medical authority, Swissmedic, approved a new malaria medicine specially made for small infants. The medicine, created by Novartis, was approved, and is meant for babies weighing between 2 and 5 kilograms. This step is important because malaria causes many child deaths, especially in Africa.
  • The medicine is made by Novartis, a pharmaceutical company based in Basel, Switzerland. It is the first malaria drug approved for very young infants, making it a major step in protecting the youngest and most vulnerable children. The approval was given under a fast-track process by Swissmedic, done in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO).

IIM Ahmedabad, Novo Nordisk India Partner to Boost Obesity Care Ecosystem

  • The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad signed an agreement with Novo Nordisk India to strengthen the obesity care ecosystem in the country for five years till 2030.
  • The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was inked, aims to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem in India through a multi-dimensional approach focused on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), especially obesity.
  • As a part of this collaboration, Novo Nordisk India (NNIPL) and IIMA will co-develop and implement impactful programmes under three key pillars - Health System Capacity Building, Policy Advocacy, and Health Economics.

IIM Kashipur Signs MoU to Introduce Sustainability and Clean Energy Programmes

  • The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nagpur-based pManifold EV Academy Pvt Ltd (evACAD) to collaborate in the domains of clean energy technologies, carbon markets, green finance, ESG, circular economy, and sustainability.
  • As part of this collaboration, both organisations are introducing a programme – Post Graduate Executive Certificate Programme in Net Zero Strategy and Sustainability Leadership – aimed at working professionals from core engineering, energy, oil & gas, power, consulting, corporate finance, sustainability & related backgrounds who wish to up skill and lead the transition to sustainable development and clean energy for industries, social sector, MSMEs, govt. agencies and the general public.

IIT Madras, Hyundai Announce Rs. 180 Crore Hydrogen Innovation Hub for Green Energy Research

  • The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), in collaboration with Guidance Tamil Nadu (the nodal investment promotion agency of the state government), established the design of the Hyundai HTWO Innovation Centre. The centre will be located at IIT Madras' Discovery Campus in Thaiyur and is scheduled to become operational by 2026.
  • The facility will have advanced experimental and computational laboratories for green hydrogen research. It will house digital twin simulations of hydrogen infrastructure, test rigs, fabrication lines, and containerised pilot zones to evaluate electrolyzers and fuel cells at an industrial scale. IIT Madras will oversee the development and operation of the centre.

BML Munjal University and UC San Diego Partner for Global Education Access

  • BML Munjal University (BMU) partnered with the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) to launch a series of collaborative academic programmes in future-facing fields like Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, MedTech, and Entrepreneurship. Given the evolving Industrial landscape it would provide the necessary skills sets to prepare for future ready careers.
  • The collaboration is aimed at creating holistic learning experiences that go beyond textbooks. For students at BMU, this means a chance to participate in international classroom environments, innovation boot camps in California, and joint research projects with one of the world's leading public universities.

Canva Partners with NCERT to Offer Free Digital Certification for Teachers

  • In a move to equip Indian teachers with digital tools and creative teaching skills, Canva signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
  • The partnership introduces three free self-paced teacher training and certification programmes, aimed at boosting visual learning, AI fluency, and design thinking in classrooms across the country.
  • The training will be hosted on DIKSHA, the Ministry of Education's national platform for school education, and will be available in multiple Indian languages.
  • The initiative is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and is expected to benefit lakhs of teachers by fostering creativity and modern classroom practices.

Abilympics for Disabled Concludes in Mumbai, 26 win medals

  • At the World Trade Centre, Mumbai, the West Zone Regional Abilympics 2025 came to a close. Over two days, 67 participants with disabilities from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Goa competed in over 15 vocational skill categories -- from ICT to craft, hospitality, and services.
  • The Abilympics, also known as the 'Work Skill Olympics for People with Disabilities,' is a national effort led by the National Abilympic Association of India (NAAI) and Sarthak Educational Trust.
  • The event was a test of skill. And it delivered. From engineering design to cake decoration, candidates proved that talent needs no sympathy -- only a platform.
  • Ten Gold, nine Silver, and seven Bronze medals were awarded. Many of these winners will now head to the National Abilympics in Gurugram this November (2025) -- one step closer to the global stage in Finland, 2027.

Tamil Nadu the First State to Adopt TB Death Prediction Model

  • Tamil Nadu become the first state in the country to implement a model which predicts the probability of deaths among adults with Tuberculosis and has integrated it with the existing state-wide application TB SeWA, which triages them at diagnosis.
  • The predictive model, developed by ICMR's National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE), aims to reduce the average time from diagnosis to hospital admission for severely ill TB patients, thereby bringing down the mortality rate further.
