Coal India and NSTFDC Signed MoU to Empower Tribal Students via Eklavya Schools
In a landmark move to promote inclusive education and holistic development for India's tribal youth, Coal India Limited (CIL) and the National Scheduled Tribe Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in September 2025. This collaboration focuses on enhancing support for students in Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) through targeted interventions in digital education, health, and career guidance.
The initiative, titled "Empowering Tribal Students in Eklavya Model Residential Schools through Digital Access, Career Mentorship, Menstrual Hygiene, and Teacher Capacity Building," aims to use education and technology as tools for social transformation in tribal regions.

The upGrad Transnational Education (TNE) Report 2024–25 showed a sharp increase in Germany's popularity, even as applications to traditional destinations fall.
Germany rose from 13.2 per cent in 2022 to 32.6 per cent in 2024–25, making it the top global choice for Indian students.
The report also highlights the UAE as another rising destination, with 42 percent of its international student population from India.
European countries such as Ireland (3.9 percent), France (3.3 percent), and others collectively attracting 9 per cent are also witnessing growth.

WHO says MPOX no longer a global public health emergency
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has said that the spread of mpox (monkeypox) in Africa no longer represents a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).
WHO's Emergency Committee has met every three months to evaluate the outbreak of mpox.
This decision is based on sustained declines in cases and deaths in Congo, and in other affected countries, including Burundi, Sierra Leone, and Uganda.

Medical Commission Approves 190 New MBBS Seats in 5 Government Colleges of J&K
The National Medical Commission (NMC) granted approval for 190 additional MBBS seats across five government medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir.
The latest approval includes 50 seats each for Government Medical Colleges in Baramulla, Doda, and Kathua, while Government Medical College Jammu and Government Medical College Srinagar have received 20 seats each. With this enhancement, the overall MBBS intake capacity across government colleges in the Union Territory has risen from 1,185 to 1,375 seats.
