Australian Scientists Grow World's First Living Skin with Blood Supply in Lab
In a big breakthrough, Australian scientists successfully grew the world's first fully functioning human skin in a lab, complete with its blood supply. The study was conducted by Dr. Abbas Shafiee, a tissue engineering and regenerative medicine scientist at the Frazer Institute at the University of Queensland, in collaboration with Metro North Health.
This is the most life-like skin model that's been developed anywhere in the world and will allow to study diseases and test treatments more accurately.

Russia Launches Animals into Space aboard Bion-M No. 2 Biosatellite
Russia launched the Bion-M No. 2 biosatellite using a Soyuz-2.1b rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. This mission carries 75 mice, more than 1,000 fruit flies, plant seeds, cell cultures, and microorganisms for a 30-day orbital experiment. The main focus is to examine how prolonged exposure to microgravity and cosmic radiation impacts living organisms, providing important information for future human spaceflight.

IIT Madras Licenses India's First Silicon Photonics Quantum Random Generator
IIT Madras took a major step in advancing India's quantum innovation ecosystem by developing and licensing the nation's first silicon photonics-based high-speed Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG).
The deal, valued at Rs. 1 crore, was signed with Indrarka Quantum Technologies Pvt Ltd for its commercial deployment.
The landmark technology was created at the Centre for Programmable Photonic Integrated Circuits and Systems (CPPICS), IIT Madras, and marks the beginning of indigenous field-deployable quantum solutions for national and global applications. The licensing agreement was formalised through the institute's Technology Transfer Office.

ISRO Inaugurates Space Laboratory in Remote Arunachal Pradesh District
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) inaugurated a state-of-the-art space laboratory at Mechuka Government Higher Secondary School in the remote Shi-Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh. The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Muskaan Foundation, was formally inaugurated by Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona in August 2025.
The newly established Pasang Wangchuk Sona ISRO Space Laboratory aims to:
Provide hands-on learning opportunities in space science and technology
Foster curiosity, innovation, and scientific thinking among students
Encourage participation of rural youth in STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
The facility is expected to bridge the gap between urban and rural educational opportunities, allowing students from remote regions to access modern scientific tools and training.

India Achieves Historic Deep Ocean Dives in Atlantic
Union Minister of State for Science & Technology Jitendra Singh announced that two Indian aquanauts, Raju Ramesh and Cdr. Jatinder Pal Singh (Retd), achieved a historic milestone by diving to depths of 4,025 meters and 5,002 meters in the Atlantic Ocean, marking India's deepest ocean expedition to date. This feat places India among a select group of fewer than six nations capable of such deep-sea exploration.
The dives, conducted aboard the French submersible Nautile in collaboration with IFREMER, France's marine research institute, were led by a five-member team from the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai.
