World Tuna Day

World Tuna Day, sponsored by the United Nations, is observed annually on May 2 to highlight the importance of tuna in global food security, economic development, and marine biodiversity. The day raises concerns about the overexploitation of tuna species and advocates for sustainable fishing practices.
World Tuna Day 2025 marked its 9th annual celebration.
On December 7, 2016, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution A/RES/71/124 designating May 2 as World Tuna Day.

Gujarat Day

Gujarat celebrates its foundation on May 1. This auspicious occasion marks the establishment of the state after the bifurcation of the Bombay State in 1960. Gujarat is the country's ninth-largest state by population and fifth-largest by area.
Gujarat is known as the Jewel of the West. From the white sand dunes of Kutch to temple towns, the state is adorned with natural beauty. Gujarat also has a rich history with its soil bearing witness to ancient civilisations, trade routes and cultural exchanges.

Maharashtra Day

Maharashtra Day, celebrated on May 1 every year, marks the creation of the state of Maharashtra in 1960. This was a pivotal moment in the region's history, signifying the culmination of a long struggle for a separate state for Marathi-speaking people. Maharashtra Day celebrates the linguistic and cultural identity of the Marathi people.
The Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti (United Maharashtra Committee) formed in 1956 became the driving force behind the movement. They advocated for a separate state encompassing Marathi-speaking regions that were then part of the Bombay State. This included present-day Maharashtra, parts of Karnataka, and the Belgaum region.
Following the States Reorganisation Act of 1956, the Bombay State was dissolved on linguistic lines. On May 1, 1960, the independent state of Maharashtra was officially formed, marking a momentous occasion in the region's history.

International Labour Day

Every year on May 1, International Labour Day, also known as May Day, is celebrated across the world. This day serves as a tribute to the hardworking individuals whose dedication and sweat have shaped societies and economies across the globe.
The origins of International Labour Day can be traced back to the late 19th century labour movement in the United States. The date of May 1st was chosen to commemorate a nationwide strike for an eight-hour workday that commenced in 1886.

Ayushman Bharat Diwas

Ayushman Bharat Diwas is celebrated annually on April 30 in India to raise awareness of the objectives of the government's Ayushman Bharat Yojana. The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) is also known as the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. It is a healthcare scheme launched by the Indian government to provide affordable and accessible healthcare to people who are economically disadvantaged.
Ayushman Bharat Diwas was first observed in 2019, a year after the Ayushman Bharat Scheme was launched.

International Dance Day

International Dance Day, also known as World Dance Day, is a worldwide tribute to the rich heritage and artistic power of dance. Celebrated on April 29, it highlights the vast range of styles and traditions that make dance a compelling form of storytelling and cultural expression.
The Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) established April 29 as International Dance Day in 1982 to highlight the amazing diversity and talent of dancers all over the globe. This date was chosen because it marks the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), the creator of modern ballet.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work

Every year, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work is celebrated on April 28 worldwide. The Safety Day aims to raise awareness and educate people about the importance of safe, healthy, and proper working environments.
The Safety Day was first celebrated by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in 2003 and since then it has become a global celebration. The special occasion promotes the prevention of work-related accidents for both individuals and organisations.
The theme for is year, 2025, the theme for World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2025 is 'Revolutionising Health and Safety: The Role of AI and Digitalisation at Work.'
