World Liver Day

  • World Liver Day is observed on April 19 every year to raise awareness about liver-related diseases and why we should prioritise its health. This day aims to spread information about liver diseases, prevention, early diagnosis and treatment.
  • The first ever world Liver Day was launched by the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) in 2010. It is celebrated annually on April 19, to commemorate the founding of EASL on April 19, 1966. 
  • The theme of World Liver Day 2024 is 'Be Vigilant, Get Regular Liver Check-Ups and Prevent Fatty Liver Diseases.'

National Exercise Day

  • National Exercise Day is observed on April 18 every year. This day is dedicated to encouraging everyone to participate in physical activity and exercise. It is a day to start a new habit and build a strong foundation for lifelong health.
  • The roots of exercise stretch far back to ancient Greece, where yoga emerged as one of the earliest organised forms of physical activity, emphasising both mental and spiritual well-being. World Heritage Day

  • World Heritage Day, also known as International Day for Monuments and Sites (IDMS), is celebrated annually on April 18 to honour and preserve our heritage.
  • The day was first established in 1982 by the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and was later adopted by UNESCO during its 22nd General Conference.
  • The theme for World Heritage Day 2024 is 'Discover and Experience Diversity.'

World Hemophilia Day

  • World Hemophilia Day is celebrated every year on April 17 to educate people about rare bleeding disorders and support those who live with this condition.
  • The foundation of the day was laid in 1989 by the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH). World Quantum Day

  • World Quantum Day is an international, community-driven event on April 14 to spark interest and generate enthusiasm for quantum mechanics.
