Indian Army to Procure First Indigenous Software�'Defined Radios

In a significant milestone for India's defence communication capabilities, the Indian Army has signed a contract to procure its first indigenously designed and manufactured Software Defined Radios (SDRs). These SDRs have been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and will be produced by the Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).

India, US Signs 10-year Pact to Deepen Defence Ties

Amid efforts to mend trade relations, India and the US signed a 10-year defence framework to provide a broader vision and policy direction to deepen bilateral cooperation.
The document, 'Framework for the US-India Major Defence Partnership', was signed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh with US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on the sidelines of the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Summit in Malaysia.

India Begins Major Tri-Service Drill along Western Border with Pakistan

A major tri-service military exercise, 'Trishul', kicked off on October 30, 2025 along the western border with Pakistan, showcasing the joint operational capability and strategic preparedness of the Indian Army, Navy, and the Air Force.
The large-scale drills, being conducted from October 30 to November 10, span across Gujarat and Rajasthan, and are aimed at enhancing interoperability, coordination, and mission readiness among the three Services.
The Navy is leading the opening phase of the exercise, followed by the Army in the second phase and the Indian Air Force in the concluding phase. The Border Security Force and the Coast Guard are also participating as auxiliary forces, underscoring the integrated approach to national security.

Swan Defence, Mazagon Dock Sign Pact for Design and Construction of LPDs

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MDL) signed an agreement with Swan Defence and Heavy Industries for collaboration in the design and construction of Landing Platform Docks (LPDs) for the Indian Navy.
The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) had earlier this month (October 2025) accorded approval for the acquisition of LPDs - a critical capability addition for the Indian Navy to undertake amphibious operations, and deliver humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) missions.

It considers more than 60 factors, including manpower, equipment, technology, and defence budgets, to assess each nation's overall power. This annual ranking gives a clear picture of how nations compare in terms of military readiness and strategic strength.
According to the Global Firepower Index 2025 released in October 2025 the top 10 countries are: United States, Russia, China, India, South Korea, United Kingdom, France, Japan, Türkiye and Italy.

Russia Unveils Nuclear-Powered Burevestnik Missile with 'Unlimited Range'

Russia successfully tested its nuclear-powered Burevestnik cruise missile, which President Vladimir Putin says can evade any defence system. The test conducted marks a significant step toward the missile's deployment. According to Russia's top general, Valery Gerasimov, the Burevestnik flew around 14,000 kilometres (8,700 miles) and stayed airborne for nearly 15 hours. The test coincided with a broader nuclear drill, which observers see as a message that Moscow "will never bow to pressure from the West" over the ongoing war in Ukraine.
It reportedly has an unlimited range and can take unpredictable flight paths, making interception extremely difficult.
