UK Witnesses Hottest June Since Recordkeeping Began
The United Kingdom witnessed its hottest June since recordkeeping began 139 years ago, said the country's Met Office, on July 3, 2023.
The British weather agency also noted that the UK, as well as England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, surpassed their respective warmest June in a series which dates back to 1884 some by a significant margin.
The records were broken in 72 of 97 areas in the UK from where temperature data is collected, reported the Met Office. Additionally, the mid-month heat, last month (June), was 15.8 degree Celsius which is also 2.5 degree Celsius higher than average.

Zoological Survey of India celebrates 108th ZSI Day with Special Focus on 'Mission Life'
Union Minister for Environment & Forest and Climate Change and Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav said we must all do everything to protect Nature and the Gifts it bestows upon us. The Minister inaugurated a three-day celebration programme of the 108th Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) Day with Special Focus on 'Mission Life' in Kolkota .
Addressing the gathering Mr. Yadav congratulated ZSI for completing 108 glorious years dedicated to the service of our faunal diversity. The Minister categorically pointed out that we must protect the Indian faunal diversity to protect ourselves as climate change has busted the myth that humans are superior to nature.
The Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey said that ZSI should focus on the research and conservation of important wetlands of Gangetic plains of India as 'Sarovar Mitra', by initiating a programme for citizen scientists for better data dissemination and conservation awareness.
