Nitin Gadkari Launches World's First Ethanol-Run Toyota Innova Car

In a groundbreaking move towards a more sustainable automotive industry, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari introduced the world to a remarkable innovation: a 100% ethanol-fuelled variant of Toyota's Innova HyCross car. The newly unveiled car stands as the world's premier BS-VI (Stage-II) electrified flex-fuel vehicle, demonstrating the union of cutting-edge technology and a commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
The unveiling of the 100% ethanol-fueled Innova HyCross underscores the urgency of transitioning to alternative and greener fuels in the pursuit of sustainable development. Nitin Gadkari acknowledged the importance of this transition, noting that while significant strides have been made in sustainability, more actions are required to combat pollution and protect the environment.

Delhi World's most Polluted City

Delhi emerged as the world's most polluted city in a new study which has also found that its residents are on track to lose 11.9 years of life if the current levels of pollution persist.
The Air Quality Life Index (AQLI) released by the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago also showed that all of India's 1.3 billion people live in areas where the annual average particulate pollution level exceeds the 5 µg/m3 limit set by World Health Organisation (WHO).
It also found that 67.4 per cent of the country's population lives in areas that exceed the country's own national air quality standard of 40 µg/m3.

Assam Govt. Issues Notification Banning Plastic Water Bottles below 1 Litre

In a decisive move towards environmental conservation, the Assam Environment and Forest Department took a significant step by announcing the ban on the use and production of plastic water bottles below 1000 ml capacity within the state. This transformative initiative, set to be enforced from October 2, 2023, reflects Assam's commitment to combat plastic pollution and promote sustainable practices.
Recognizing the environmental hazards posed by such smaller plastic bottles, the Assam government's decision aligns with its commitment to safeguard the state's natural beauty and biodiversity.
The ban on plastic water bottles below 1000 ml capacity falls under the purview of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. The notification invokes the powers vested in the State by the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India, under Section 23 of the Act.

NTCA Approves India's 54th Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan

India got its 54th tiger reserve in Rajasthan's Karauli and Dholpur districts with the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) approving a proposal in this regard. This is Rajasthan's fifth tiger reserve after Ranthambore, Sariska, Mukundra Hills and Ramgarh Vishdhari.
The number of tigers in India has increased from 2,967 in 2018 to 3,682 in 2022, an annual rise of 6 per cent, according to government data.
With a 50 per cent increase in the last four years, Madhya Pradesh has the maximum number of tigers in the country (785), followed by Karnataka (563), Uttarakhand (560), and Maharashtra (444).
The number of tigers in Rajasthan has increased from 32 in 2006 to 88 in 2022.

India's First Hydrogen Bus Hits the Public Roads in Leh, Ladakh

NTPC's strategic objectives align seamlessly with its vision of cultivating a carbon-neutral Ladakh. To realize this vision, the company is orchestrating the establishment of a cutting-edge hydrogen fuelling station and an expansive solar plant, boasting a capacity of 1.7 MW. These dual infrastructure components play a pivotal role in providing renewable power to facilitate the hydrogen mobility project.

Spotless Giraffe, Incredibly Rare and Only One of its Kind in World, Born at zoo in Tennessee

In one of the rarest incidents seen in the animal kingdom, a spotless baby giraffe was born at The Brights Zoo, Tennessee the US and is believed to be the only singularly coloured giraffe in the world.
Giraffe experts believe she is the only solid-coloured reticulated giraffe living anywhere on the planet.
The female giraffe is uniformly brown in colour and lacks the distinctive patched pattern commonly found in giraffes and also the exceptionally long necks, they are famous for.
