ACM A.M. Turing Award 2024: Andrew Barto and Richard Sutton Honored for Reinforcement Learning

Ramsar Award for 'Wetland Wise Use'

Jayshree Vencatesan, co-founder of Care Earth Trust, made history as the first Indian to receive the Ramsar Award for 'Wetland Wise Use'. This prestigious global accolade recognises exceptional contributions to sustainable wetland management. The announcement coincided with International Women's Day, denoting the role of women in environmental conservation. Vencatesan was one of twelve women honoured for their impactful work in wetland preservation.
Vencatesan has dedicated decades to the conservation of India's wetlands. Her efforts focus particularly on the Pallikaranai Marsh in Chennai.

The International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) 2025 marked a spectacular silver jubilee edition, celebrating 25 years of honouring the best in Bollywood. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Mauritius' highest civilian honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean, making him the first Indian recipient of the prestigious accolade. The announcement was made by Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, recognising Modi's contributions to strengthening India-Mauritius relations.
The award, regarded as Mauritius' most distinguished recognition, is a testament to the island nation's deep-rooted historical and strategic ties with India. Modi joined an exclusive list of global leaders who have received the honour.

PM Modi Honoured with Barbados' Highest Award

In March 2025, Prime Minister was conferred with the prestigious Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados Award for his strategic leadership and support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The award was presented in Bridgetown, Barbados, with Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita receiving it on behalf of Prime Minister Modi.
