World Alzheimer's Day 2025: Theme, History, and Significance

World Alzheimer's Day observed every year on 21 September, a global awareness campaign to shed light on Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

International Day of Peace (UN) 2025

The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") is observed around the world each year on September 21.
Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.
The International Day of Peace was first established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly as a day to strengthen the ideals of peace across all nations and peoples. Originally observed on the third Tuesday of September, the day was moved in 2001 to a fixed date—September 21—to provide a consistent annual commemoration.
The theme for International Day of Peace 2025 is 'Act Now for a Peaceful World'.

International Red Panda Day 2025: Celebrating and Saving the Himalayan "Firefox"

This year (2025), International Red Panda Day celebrated on Saturday, 20 September 2025.
The day draws attention to the endangered species and calls for urgent conservation action.
The initiative was initially started in 2010 by the Red Panda Network, a Nepalese non-profit organisation.
It was with the simple intent of allocating one day each year to raise awareness and make people take action on behalf of the species.
Red pandas are threatened by dwindling forests, poaching and the illegal pet trade. Their population declined significantly, with less than 10,000 still in the wild.
Awareness campaigns assist in generating funds, informing children and aiding forest communities to conserve their environments.

World Bamboo Day 2025

World Bamboo Day is observed every year on 18 September across the globe to promote awareness about bamboo as a sustainable and versatile resource.
Often called "green gold", bamboo is vital for rural livelihoods, environmental protection, and innovation in design and industry.
World Bamboo Day was first celebrated in 2009, during the 8th World Bamboo Congress in Bangkok. The World Bamboo Organization initiated this observance to showcase bamboo's cultural, economic, and ecological importance.
Since then, the day was marked by plantation drives, cultural events, and policy discussions to elevate bamboo's profile in climate action and economic development.
The theme for 2025 was "Next Generation Bamboo: Solution, Innovation, and Design."
This theme emphasises Bamboo's modern utility in solving climate and development challenges.
The theme encourages cross-sector collaboration to position bamboo as a future-ready material for housing, packaging, furniture, and climate-resilient solutions.

World Patient Safety Day 2025

World Patient Safety Day (WPSD) is observed every year on September 17, a global initiative by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The day emphasised the urgent need to reduce medical errors, ensure transparency in healthcare, and strengthen trust between patients and providers.
In 2025, the theme — "Safe Care for Every Newborn and Every Child" — highlights the importance of protecting the most vulnerable: infants and young children, who often face avoidable risks during childbirth, diagnosis, and treatment.
