Hindustani Vocalist Malini Rajurkar Passes Away

Noted Hindustani classical vocalist Malini Rajurkar, who epitomised simplicity and depth, passed away in a Hyderabad. She was 82.
She has performed in major music festivals in India, including Gunidas Sammelan (Mumbai), Tansen Samaroh (Gwalior), Sawai Gandharva Festival (Pune), and Shankar Lal Festival (Delhi). She is noted especially for her command over the Tappa and the Tarana genre. She has also sung lighter music. Her renditions of Marathi natyageete, pandu-nrupati janak jaya, naravar krishnasamaan, ya bhavanatil geet purane have been particularly popular.
Malini Rajurkar was born in Ajmer in Rajasthan in 1941. She studied music from the Ajmer Music College, under the guidance of Govindrao Rajurkar and his nephew Vasantrao Rajurkar. She was an exponent of Gwalior gharana and one of the foremost proponents of 'khayal' and 'tappa' genre.

Praveena Anjana Crowned Miss International India 2023

Praveena Anjana of Udaipur was crowned Miss International India 2023, gaining her position to represent India at the Miss International pageant in Japan this October. Anjana is a chartered accountant by profession who has been interested in fashion and beauty since she was a kid. She began modelling at an early age and has competed in various beauty pageants, most recently winning the Miss Divine Beauty 2023 pageant in August.
The Miss International pageant is one of the most renowned beauty pageants in the world, conducted annually in Japan. The pageant's goal is to promote international peace and understanding through the power of beauty. Anjana's victory is significant for India and is expected to encourage young women across the country. She is a role model for all women and an inspiration to everybody who aspires to greatness.

Shabtai Shavit, Israeli Spymaster Who Led Mossad in 1990s, Passes Away

Shabtai Shavit, the Israeli spymaster who was credited with advancing Israel's historic peace treaty with Jordan during his term as director of the Mossad intelligence agency, died. He was 84.
Shavit led the Mossad from 1989 to 1996, guiding the agency through a critical juncture in Middle East history. He oversaw Israeli operations on foreign soil during the collapse of the Soviet Union, the end of the Cold War and the first Gulf War in 1991.
During his time at the helm, Shavit played an important role in establishing full diplomatic relations with Jordan in 1994, ending a state of war that had prevailed between the neighbours for nearly a half-century.

Special Protection Group Director Arun Kumar Sinha Dies

Director of the Special Protection Group (SPG), Arun Kumar Sinha, passed away in Gurugram. He was 61.
Sinha was a 1987 batch Kerala cadre IPS Officer and serving as SPG Director since 2016.
He was recently given an extension in the service. The Special Protection Group (SPG) was raised in 1985 with the intention to provide proximate security cover to the Prime Minister, former Prime Ministers and their immediate family members. Later, their mandate was amended and they now only provide security cover to the Prime Minister of the day.
Sinha has previously served as DCP Commissioner, Range IG, Intelligence IG and Administration IG in Thiruvananthapuram.

E-sports company Krafton India roped in Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh as its brand ambassador for Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). With this collaboration, Krafton will launch its Play Pure campaign.
As per the company, this partnership aims to bring together the thrill of gaming and the charisma of Ranveer Singh to engage and deliver elevated experiences for millions of gamers across the country.

N. Valarmathi, Voice Behind ISRO Launch Countdowns, Passes Away

N. Valarmathi who was the voice behind the countdowns for various launches of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), including the Chandrayaan-3 mission, passed away at the age of 64.
She was responsible for the countdowns for numerous launches by the space agency at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. Valarmathi was a project director for the remote sensing RISAT-1 project in 2012.
Valarmathi received the Tamil Nadu government's Abdul Kalam award in 2015, shortly after her role as director in the RISAT-1 project.

Tamil Actor and Comedian R. S. Shivaji passes away

Popular Tamil actor and comedian R. S. Shivaji passed away at the age of 66.
R. S. Shivaji, born on October 26, was a familiar face in the film industry. His career was punctuated by remarkable collaborations with leading actors and directors, with a special association with the legendary Kamal Hassan.
At first, R. S. Shivaji became well-known as a comedian. In his later years, he smoothly shifted to playing other important roles in movies. This showed how good he was at acting as he could convincingly become different types of characters.
