BJP and JSP are likely to jointly contest nine seats in Twin Cities.

  •  Kukatpally and Serilingampally in Twin Cities may go to JSP. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and actor Pawan Kalyan led Jana Sena Party (JSP) are likely to jointly contest nine seats in Twin Cities and other parts of the State in the November 30 Assembly elections.
  • Highly placed BJP sources said the party has decided to give two seats — Kukatpally and Serilingampally — in Hyderabad to Jana Sena Party notwithstanding strong resistance from within the party.
  • The BJP leaders, who were hopeful of performing well in these two seats are now up in arms against the proposal. Mr. Pawan Kalyan, who returned from abroad is likely to meet the BJP leaders on Saturday night.

  • The Election Commission of India yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Ministry of Education to bring electoral literacy into classrooms across the country. The MoU outlines the development of institutional framework that seeks to embed electoral literacy in schools and colleges. It also includes structured curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that will help prepare new voters for greater electoral participation in democracy.
  • Key features of the MoU include systematic inclusion of voter education and electoral literacy in the curriculum from classes 6th to 12th in all schools

  • Former Bombay High Court judge Justice C. V. Bhadang was appointed as President of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT).
  • Justice Bhadang obtained his LL.B. degree from Nagpur University and enrolled as an advocate on December 5, 1984. He primarily practiced civil and criminal law in the district court and the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court before joining the Maharashtra Judicial Service.
  • He held positions in the Registry of the Bombay High Court, serving as Registrar (Vigilance), Registrar (Judicial), Registrar (Personnel) and Registrar (Inspection). In 2013, he was appointed as the Registrar General.
  • In 2014, he was elevated as a judge of the Bombay High Court, and retired in November 2022.
