Collegium Recommends 1 Additional Judge of Chhattisgarh High Court to be Made Permanent
The Supreme Court Collegium recommended that Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey, currently an additional judge of Chhattisgarh High Court, be made permanent judge of that Court.
The Collegium also recommended that two other additional judges of the same High Court, Justice Sachin Singh Rajput and Justice Radhakishan Agrawal, be given a fresh term of one year as additional judges with effect from May 16 and May 24, respectively.

Haryana Govt Appoints Judicial Officers as Additional District & Sessions Judges
After facing Punjab & Haryana High Court's wrath the Haryana government accepted the High Court's recommendation to promote 13 judicial officers as District and Session Judges. In a contempt plea filed by five judicial officers the State government submitted a compliance report with High Court's direction.
In December 2023, the High Court had directed the Haryana Government to give "necessary effect" to the High Court's recommendations made for the promotion of the judicial officers, within two weeks.

Central Government Notifies Appointment of 5 Permanent Judges for Karnataka High Court
The Central government notified the appointment of five new permanent judges for the Karnataka High Court.
The names of additional judges Justices Cheppudira Monnappa Poonacha, Anil Bheemsen Katti, Chandrashekhar Mrutyunjaya Joshi, Umesh Manjunathbhat Adiga, and Talkad Girigowda Shivashankare Gowda were approved for such elevation.
The Supreme Collegium had recommended the move earlier this month (April 2024).
The High Court Collegium had made recommendations to this effect in January, with the Chief Minister and the Governor of Karnataka assenting to the same.

Special Courts with Sessions Judges Can Try Offences under IBC: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court ruled that special courts with sessions judges can try offences under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).
A Division Bench of Justices B. R. Gavai and Sandeep Mehta held so on an appeal against a Bombay High Court order which said that only special courts consisting of metropolitan or judicial magistrates are empowered to hear complaints under the IBC.
Centre Notifies Appointment of M. B. Snehalatha as Additional Judge of Kerala High Court
The Central Government notified the appointment of judicial officer M. B. Snehalatha as an additional judge of the Kerala High Court.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
The Supreme Court collegium had recommended her elevation in October 2023.
She was part of a group of five judicial officers who were recommended by the Supreme Court in its resolution.
