Madhya Pradesh CM Inaugurates PM Shri Tourism Air Service from Bhopal

  • Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched an intra-state air service to promote tourism from Raja Bhoj International Airport in the state capital Bhopal. It is called 'PM Shri Paryatan Vayu Seva' and the first flight was flagged off from the capital Bhopal to Jabalpur. The service operated by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) with two aircraft will connect eight cities across the State- Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Khajuraho, Ujjain, Rewa, and Singrauli.
  • Madhya Pradesh Tourism in partnership with M/s Jet Serve Aviation Private Limited under the PPP mode brought the 'PM Shri Tourism Air Service' to promote tourism in the state. It will connect eight cities within the state.

Rajasthan Govt. to Invest Rs. 100 Cr in Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit

  • Bhajan Lal Sharma, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, announced an ambitious plan to develop the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit with an investment of Rs. 100 crore. This announcement was made during the inauguration of the Maharana Pratap Jayanti celebration in Udaipur.
  • The Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit aims to preserve the rich historical and cultural heritage of the region by developing places associated with the life of Maharana Pratap of Mewar.
  • Under this project, the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation will establish museums, provide basic amenities for tourists, and improve overall connectivity to these significant locations.

Hungary Unveils 700-Metre Pedestrian 'Bridge of National Unity'

  • A 700-metre pedestrian bridge was inaugurated. The Bridge of National Unity is one of the longest bridges in the world. The eastern Hungarian city of Satoraljaujhely has a new tourist attraction.
  • The cable-stayed bridge is supported by six cable ropes.
  • The bridge was built at a cost of four billion HUF (10 million euros), financed from the national budget.
  • The government hailed the bridge a symbol of national unity, inaugurated on Hungary's June 4 Day of National Unity, also known as the Memorial Day of the Treaty of Trianon. Under the Trianon Peace Treaty, concluding World War I, Hungary lost two-thirds of its territory and half of its population to neighbouring countries. Many Hungarians consider the treaty a great injustice and the government of Prime Minister Viktor Orban regularly fuels such sentiment.

Pieter Elbers Chairs IATA Board of Governors

  • The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, assumed his duties as Chair of the IATA Board of Governors (BoG). His one-year term began at the conclusion of the 80th IATA Annual General Meeting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on the 3rd of June.
  • Elbers is the 82nd Chair of the IATA BoG. He served earlier on the BoG between 2016 and 2022 as KLM's President and CEO and was reappointed to the Board in 2022 shortly after he became IndiGo's CEO. He succeeded RwandAir CEO Yvonne Manzi Makolo.
  • Elbers has over 30 years of broad experience in the aviation industry. He has been CEO of IndiGo since September 2022 and has taken IndiGo on a journey of expansion and internationalization since.

Uttarakhand Unveils India's First Astro-Tourism Initiative

  • The Uttarakhand government organized India's first-ever astro-tourism event called 'Nakshatra Sabha' in Mussoorie, the 'Queen of Hills', on June 1 and 2, 2024. The inaugural event was held at the George Everest Peak, famous for its breathtaking views of the Doon Valley and the snow-capped Himalayas.
  • Uttarakhand, known for its spiritual tourism and popular Hindu pilgrimage sites like Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, aims to promote itself as a multidimensional tourist destination. The state's scenic mountains, clean environment, and natural beauty hold the potential to attract millions of tourists.
