Air India to Set up South Asia's Largest Flight Training School in Amravati
Air India is establishing South Asia's largest flight training school in Maharashtra's Amravati district with an investment of over Rs. 200 crore. Scheduled to open in the first quarter of the next financial year, this initiative aims to secure a steady pipeline of pilots for the airline, which will require 500-700 pilots annually to support its expansion plans following a mega order of 470 Airbus and Boeing aircraft in 2023.
In partnership with Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), Air India leased a 10-acre plot in Amravati for thirty years. The facility will feature 31 single-engine Piper aircraft and three twin-engine Diamond aircraft, training 180 commercial pilots annually. The infrastructure includes a newly extended runway of 1,850 metres, modern navigation aids, and night landing facilities. Amravati offers over 300 days of clean visibility, optimizing conditions for pilot training.

Tourism Development Conclave 24 Concludes Focussing on Revitalising Tourism in Jammu & Kashmir
The two-day Tourism Development Conclave 2024 concluded at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre in Srinagar with insightful discussions and strategic deliberations aimed at revitalising tourism in Jammu & Kashmir.
G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant chaired multiple panel sessions focusing on various aspects of tourism development. He emphasised the importance of creating transformative experiences in Kashmir, highlighting a shift towards experiential tourism encompassing adventure, cultural heritage, and eco-tourism. Mr. Kant also urged the tourism department to collaborate with travel writers and operators to showcase Kashmir's unique offerings and improve global perceptions of the region.
During the event, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo underscored Kashmir's enduring strength in hospitality. He stressed the need to address issues such as overcharging to enhance visitor experiences and promote repeat tourism.

Amit Shah Launches Special Programme to Fast-track Immigration Services
Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a special programme under which the immigration process of pre-verified Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders will be fast-tracked.
The Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) is a "visionary initiative" by the government, thoughtfully designed for Indian nationals and OCI cardholders.
Eligible individuals will need to apply online and submit their biometrics (fingerprint and facial image) along with other required information as specified in the application form.
The FTI registration will be valid for a maximum of five years or until the validity of the passport, whichever comes first.
The FTI-TTP aims to revolutionise people's travel experience, making it faster, easier, and more secure.
This initiative showcases the government's commitment to enhance travel convenience and efficiency for everyone.
