CM Adityanath Announces Scheme to Boost Entrepreneurship among Youth

  • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a scheme to promote entrepreneurship among the youth of Uttar Pradesh, saying it was aimed at empowering the state's youngsters.
  • With a target to set up 10 lakh micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) units, the state government will provide financial support to the youngsters interested in taking up entrepreneurship under the initiative, 'Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyam Vikas Abhiyan Yojana'.
  • The scheme aims to create employment opportunities for 50 lakh youngsters. "Under the scheme, 10 lakh youth will get employment or self-employment in the coming years.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Introduces Nutritional Scheme for School Children

  • Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the Mukhyamantri Bal Paushtik Aahar Yojana to provide nutritious food to children in government-run schools.
  • Launching the initiative in Hamirpur, he said that it would complement the existing midday meal scheme and was targeted at students from nursery to Class 8 in 15,181 schools.
  • Under the scheme, school children will be provided boiled eggs or fruits once a week.
  • Sukhu further said that about 17,510 primary school teachers would receive tablets as part of the government's efforts to promote digitisation in educational and administrative processes.
  • "This initiative aims to modernise teaching methods, improve access to digital educational resources and simplify administrative tasks," he said.

Maharashtra Goverment Launches 'Ladki Bahin' Scheme

  • The Maharashtra government officially launch and roll out the 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana', which seeks to provide Rs. 1500 per month to over one crore women in the state.
  • Modelled on the lines of the 'Ladli Behna Yojana' in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured that this scheme will not be temporary and will continue indefinitely.
  • The Maharashtra government has launched an app called Nari Shakti Dhoot, through which women eligible for the scheme can easily apply online.
  • In order to be eligible for the scheme, women need to qualify as a permanent resident of the state of Maharashtra. The scheme is also applicable only for women between the age of 21 and 65. Further, in order to aid those who are financially disadvantaged, the scheme only applies for women whose family or household income is less than Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum.

The Indian Government Withdraws the Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill

  • The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is learnt to have withdrawn the new draft Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill, 2024, which triggered a controversy and criticism over fears that the government was trying to exert greater control over online content. The draft Bill had raised several questions on the freedom of speech and expression, and the government's powers to regulate it.
  • As per reports, the ministry is expected to go back to the drawing board and work on a new proposal.

Maharashtra Government Approves Logistics Policy 2024

  • The Maharashtra government approved the Logistics Policy 2024, aimed at revolutionising the state's logistics infrastructure and generating approximately 500,000 job opportunities. The policy includes the development of over 200 logistics parks, complexes, and truck terminals equipped with advanced facilities.
  • The Maharashtra policy incorporates the 'Integrated Logistics Master Plan', which focuses on optimum utilisation of existing and upcoming logistics networks, strengthening logistics infrastructure and multi-modal connectivity. Under it, dedicated logistics infrastructure will be developed on more than 10,000 acres in the state by 2029.
  • The projects include an international mega logistics hub to be developed in the Navi Mumbai-Pune region on 2,000 acres of land, which will also be connected to the new international airport at Panvel. This will help in making the area a major international trade and industry centre due to its proximity to various industrial estates. A budget of Rs. 1,500 crore will be allocated for this development.
  • Key Objectives:
  • Infrastructure Development: Establish more than 10,000 acres of dedicated logistics infrastructure.
  • Logistics Hubs: Create 25 district logistics nodes, five regional logistics hubs, five state logistics hubs, one national logistics hub, and one international logistics hub.
  • Technological Integration: Promote high-tech logistics through Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain technology, robotics, automation, IoT, digitisation, drones, and fintech to create tech-savvy jobs.
