A team from National Law University Jodhpur (NLU Jodhpur) won the 20th LAWASIA Moot Court Competition held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The team comprised Ansh Arora, Paavni Kaur Mago and Bianca Bhardwaj.
They competed against Hanoi Law University in the final rounds. The team also won the Spirit of LAWASIA award.
OP Jindal Global Law School was the other Indian team participating this year.
The moot problem addressed procedural issues of sovereign immunity in arbitration and enforceability of pre-arbitral negotiation steps. It also included concerns of labour law violations, forced labour and questions of fundamental breach and agency under the UNIDROIT Principles.
The Central government re-appointed former Supreme Court Justice Ashok Bhushan as chairperson of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT).
Justice Bhushan joined as chairperson of NCLAT on November 8, 2021, presiding over significant matters involving corporate law, insolvency, and competition statutes. He will now continue until July 2026.

Bar Council of India Approves Kerala's Proposal to Reserve Seats for Trans Students
The Bar Council of India (BCI) granted interim approval to the Kerala government's proposal to create two supernumerary seats for transgender students in all law colleges across the state. The move is being hailed as a significant step towards inclusivity in legal education.
The approval follows a directive from the Kerala High Court on October 24, which had asked the BCI to consider and approve the government's request.
The Kerala government had submitted its proposal in August seeking permission to introduce additional seats under the transgender category in both three-year and five-year LLB programmes.

Allahabad High Court Designates 90 Lawyers as Senior Advocates
The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday designated 90 lawyers including 5 women as Senior Advocates.
Majority of these advocates practice before Allahabad and Lucknow benches of the High Court.
A few of them practice before the Supreme Court and Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) in Lucknow.
While the Allahabad bench had 108 Senior Advocates as in May, the number stood at 32 in the Lucknow bench.
