Manipur Chief Minister Inaugurates Hun-Thadou Cultural Festival at Kangpokpi

  • The 5th edition of HUN- a Thadou Cultural Festival 2023 kicked off at Thomas Ground in Kangpokpi district of Manipur.

National Museum of Natural History and State Museum, Lucknow Sign MoU

  • National Museum of Natural History (NMNH), New Delhi and State Museum, Lucknow signed an MoU to work together in the direction of environment conservation and environment education among the masses. Under the MoU, multi-dimensional efforts will be made in organizing programmes for school and college students to create awareness about nature.
  • The MoU was signed by Director, National Museum of Natural History, Naaz Rizvi and Director, State Museum, Lucknow, Dr. Anand Kumar Singh, in the presence of Principal Secretary, Culture & Tourism, Mukesh Mishra at Paryatan Bhawan, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.
  • The National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) was established as one of the national level institutions during the Silver Jubilee celebrations of India's Independence, to portray and promote awareness on the Natural Heritage of the country.
  • State Museum, Lucknow works in collaboration with other Museums of the country with the aim of spreading awareness about the rich heritage of the country and the world to different regions of the country.

Assam's Traditional Bihu Dance Enters Guinness Book of World Records

  • India's North-eastern state Assam created history and marked its name in the Guinness Book of World Records by performing the traditional Bihu dance at a single venue.
  • More than 11,000 performers, including drummers and dancers, participated at the Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati in the State Government's bid to register its world record in the Guinness Book.
  • Practice sessions were held across the state to bring in the best performers for the mega event with the aim being to put Assam's cultural heritage on the world map.

Madhya Pradesh's Gond Painting Gets GI Tag

  • The famed Gond painting of Madhya Pradesh received the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
  • A geographical Indication (GI) tag is a sign used on products which have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a reputation that are due to that origin. It is used for industrial products, foodstuff, agriculture products, spirit drinks, and handicrafts. GI Tag ensures that no one other than the registered authorised user is allowed to use the name of the popular product.
  • Padma Shri awardee and famous Gond artist Bhajju Shyam said that it is a matter of pride for us. With this, the people of tribal and Gond dominant communities will now get direct benefit.
