Noted History Professor Tasneem Suhrawardy Dies

Tasneem Suhrawardy, a well-known Indian medieval history academic who taught at Delhi University's St Stephen's College, died.
Suhrawardy graduated with honours in History from St Stephen's College in 1986.
In 2004, she completed her PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University on 'Central Asians in Mughal India: Migration, Settlement and Impact on North Indian Culture'.
Besides teaching at St Stephen's College, she was also invited as a guest teacher at prestigious American and Indian educational institutes.

Actor Lee Sun-kyun of Oscar-winning Film 'Parasite' Passes Away

Actor Lee Sun-kyun of the Oscar-winning movie Parasite died. Lee was found dead in a car in a central Seoul park.
Lee was best known for his role in Parasite, in which he played the head of a wealthy family. In 2021, he won a Screen Actors Guild award for "cast in a motion picture" for his role in the same film.
He was nominated for the best actor at the International Emmy Awards for his performance in the sci-fi thriller 'Dr. Brain'.

V Mohini Giri Passes Away

Renowned women's rights activist V. Mohini Giri died at the age of 86.
Giri was the former Chair of the National Commission for Women (NCW) (1995–1998) and of the Central Social Welfare Board. She was also the Chairperson of the Guild of Service, a New Delhi–based social service organisation, which provides advocacy for women's and children's rights for education, employment, and financial security.
She founded the War Widows Association in 1972. For her efforts in the field of women's rights, she was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2007.

Kuwait Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Passes Away

Emir of Kuwait, Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, passed away at the age of 86.
Nawaf was sworn in as Emir following the 2020 death of his predecessor, the late Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah.
Nawaf previously served as Kuwait's Interior and Defence Minister but was not seen as particularly active in government outside those terms.

Bengali Singer Anup Ghoshal Passes Away

Bengali singer Anup Ghoshal, who is best known for the 'Tujhse Naraz Nahi Zindagi' number from the 1983 film Masoom and immortalised the songs in several Satyajit Ray's musicals, passed away. Ghoshal was 77.
Anup Ghosal had successfully contested the 2011 assembly polls from Uttarpara seat on the Trinamool Congress ticket.

Emmy-Winning Actor Andre Braugher Passes Away

Emmy-winning actor Andre Braugher, renowned for his notable roles in series such as 'Homicide: Life on The Street' and 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine', passed away at the age of 61. Born in Chicago, Braugher gained widespread recognition with his breakthrough role in the 1989 film "Glory," alongside Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington.
Andre Braugher's career took off with his pivotal role in "Glory," a film depicting the experiences of an all-Black army regiment during the Civil War. The actor's compelling performance earned him his first Emmy in 1998, securing the trophy for lead actor in a drama series. This marked the beginning of a distinguished career.
