Gujarat Government Unveils Cinematic Tourism Policy

  • In order to market Gujarat as a potential destination for film and documentary makers from Bollywood, Hollywood and regional industries Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched the state's maiden "Cinematic Tourism Policy 2022-27".
  • Gujarat for first time declared Cinematic Tourism Policy. This is to ensure that filmmakers do not face any difficulties and also get financial support.
  • At the event four MoUs were signed worth Rs. 1,022 crore with various entities which included Devgan's firm NY Cinemas LLP.
  • Panorama Studios International Ltd, Laxmi Film Laboratories and Studios Pvt Ltd, and Bollywood Hub were among those who inked an agreement with the state government.

Flipkart Forays into Hospitality Sector

  • Homegrown e-commerce marketplace Flipkart forayed into the hospitality sector with the launch of a new hotel-booking feature -- Flipkart Hotels -- on its platform to bolster its offerings in the travel sector.
  • The platform said Flipkart Hotels will allow customers to book hotel rooms across 3 lakh domestic and international hotels. Backed by Cleartrip's API, Flipkart Hotels will benefit from Cleartrip's deep understanding of travel customers and sectors.
  • With the launch of hotel services, Flipkart aims to offer its customers a host of affordable benefits, including flexible travel and booking-related policies, easy EMI options, etc to make travel affordable, and budget-friendly options, among others.

Thailand Looks to Indian Weddings to Boost Tourism Revenue

  • Thailand hopes to boost its tourism revenue to between 600 billion-700 billion baht ($16 billion-$19 billion) by year-end, by targeting high-spending groups like Indian wedding parties and honeymooners.
  • Famous for its white-sand beaches and nightlife, Thailand hopes to tap into "pent-up demand" from the multi-billion dollar Indian wedding industry.
  • Foreign tourism revenue from January to Aug. 28 came in at 186 billion baht from 4.2 million visitors, and 10 million arrivals are expected for the full year.
  • The Southeast Asian country relies heavily on tourism as a driver of economic growth.

UP Govt. to Develop Kannauj into Tourist Destination

  • Kannuj will be developed into a tourist destination as per the decision taken by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. This decision was taken in order to emphasize the importance of perfume industries in India. The government of Uttar Pradesh also decided to organize an international perfume fair in Kannuaj in December. The first phase of the perfume park will be completed by 15th November 2022, which is being set up in the district. The aim of this initiative is to take the Rs. 250 crore perfume business to height of Rs. 25,000 crore. This project will give momentum to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's vision of making Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion economy.

Super Vasuki: Indian Railways Longest Freight Train

  • The Indian Railways conducted a test run of its latest train called Super Vasuki. The Super Vasuki is operated by the South East Central Railway (SECR) zone of the Indian Railways.
  • The SECR ran the record long-haul freight trains Vasuki and Trishul last year and the 2.8 km long SheshNaag train before that.
  • The Super Vasuki was set up by amalgamating five rakes of goods trains as one unit.
