14 BHU Scholars Get Prime Minister's Research Fellowship

A total of 14 research scholars of Banaras Hindu University were selected for the Prime Minister's Research Fellowship.
The students who were selected for the current cycle of PMRF are Bandan Kumar, Aindabi Maitra, Kuhoo Madhav, R. B. Ananth, Raju Rai, and Sudipa Bhunia (Dept. of Geology), Deepika Sharma, Karmdeo Prajapati, Nikhil Srivastav, and Ritesh Tolani (Dept. of Chemistry), Ankita Gupta (Institute of Environment & Sustainable Development), Garima Kandwal (Dept. of Biochemistry), Prashasti Pandey (Dept. of Botany), and Syona Tiwari (Dept. of Bioinformatics).
As part of the scheme selected research scholars receive an attractive fellowship and a research contingency grant. The fellowship amount for the first two years is Rs. 70,000 per month, followed by Rs. 75,000 per month for the third year and Rs. 80,000 per month in fourth and fifth years.
This scheme, which is open to very few Central Universities, is aimed at fostering high quality research. Launched in the budget 2018-2019, this scheme seeks to attract the best talent into research.

IIT Roorkee Collaborates with NRDC to Accelerate Innovation & Technology Transfer

The overarching goal is to bolster India's vision of economic self-reliance, with a central role for intellectual property (IP) in shaping the nation's future.

The 'Beyond Beds and Boundaries: Indian Student Mobility Report, 2023'

Punjab, Telangana and Maharashtra are the top states from where students go overseas for higher education while Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Ireland, Singapore, Russia and France are among the new preferred destinations for Indian students, according to a report.
The 'Beyond Beds and Boundaries: Indian Student Mobility Report, 2023' launched at a Global Education Conclave, offers insights into the dynamics of Indian students pursuing higher education abroad, with a particular focus on the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.
Traditionally, Indian students have preferred countries like the US, Canada, UK and Australia. However, recently other countries have also emerged as preferred destinations, including Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Ireland, Singapore, Russia, Philippines, France and New Zealand.
Top states in India in terms of students going abroad include Punjab (12.5 per cent), Andhra Pradesh/Telangana (12.5 per cent), Maharashtra (12.5 per cent), Gujarat (8 per cent), Delhi/NCR (8 per cent), Tamil Nadu (8 per cent), Karnataka (6 per cent) and 33 per cent from other states.
The report also projected that the spending by Indian students on overseas education is expected to skyrocket to an astounding USD 70 billion by 2025.

IIT Kanpur Announces eMasters Degree in Renewable Energy and E-mobility

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) introduced an innovative eMasters degree programme in Renewable Energy and e-Mobility. This programme, designed by experts from the Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, is aimed at cultivating a proficient and highly skilled workforce committed to environmental responsibility.
Unlike traditional master's programmes, this executive-friendly eMasters degree programme does not mandate a GATE score for admission. It allows professionals to continue their careers without interruption and offers the flexibility to complete the programme within 1-3 years.

124 Schools under PM-SHRI Scheme Inaugurated in Haryana

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated 124 Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India across the state in the first phase of the scheme.
As per Pradhan, schools under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI) programme will be a symbol of excellence with 21st-century modern education.

IIT Madras Researchers Develop Platform to Help Start-ups Access Government Funding

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras researchers at the Centre for Research on Start-ups and Risk Financing (CREST) developed an 'Intelligence Platform on Government Funding Schemes for Start-ups' to boost the start-up sector.
Developed and implemented in partnership with YNOS, an IIT Madras-incubated start-up, the government funding platform for start-ups brings together the entire spectrum of start-up schemes from the government to the doorsteps of the entrepreneur.
The platform has been developed based on several years of research and data collected by a team led by Professor Thillai Rajan, Principal Investigator of CREST, and the faculty of the Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras.
The portal will help entrepreneurs to get a comprehensive understanding of the government funding landscape for start-ups.
