Board of Governors of IIM Calcutta Accepts Director Uttam Sarkar's Resignation

The Board of Governors of IIM Calcutta accepted the resignation of Director Uttam Kumar Sarkar.
The resignation was accepted with immediate effect.
Sarkar would continue as a professor in the MIS (Management Information Systems) Group of the institute.
Sahadeb Sarkar, a professor in the Operations Management Group of the Institute, was appointed as Director-in-Charge in accordance with the provisions of the IIM Act 2017.
Uttam Sarkar had been appointed Director in August 2021 after the controversial exit of Anju Seth.

IIT Kanpur Launches a Centre of Excellence Called ATMAN to Monitor Air Quality

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) established a Centre of Excellence (CoE) named ATMAN (Advanced Technologies for Monitoring Air-quality iNdicators). The CoE is a significant step towards the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative of the Government of India, focusing on building indigenous low-cost sensor manufacturing and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) capabilities to enhance air quality across urban and rural areas of India.
This initiative of establishing the Center of Excellence—ATMAN has firmly positioned the institute at the forefront of efforts to combat air pollution.
Through ATMAN, IIT Kanpur is dedicated to the meticulous evaluation of health risks associated with air pollutants, as well as a comprehensive review of air quality standards.

India Ranks 2nd in Employee Well-being, Japan Lowest

Japan ranked last in a global well-being survey, with issues stemming from its lifetime job security and increasing job uncertainty. In contrast, India excelled with a positive work culture.
A recent survey conducted by the McKinsey Health Institute sheds light on the well-being of employees across 30 countries, emphasizing factors such as physical, mental, social, and spiritual health. This survey highlights significant disparities in employee well-being, with Japan ranking at the bottom and India securing a notable position.

First Australia India Education &Skill Council meeting held at IIT Gujarat

The First Australia India Education and Skill Council (AIESC) meeting is being held at IIT Gandhinagar,Gujarat.
AIESC is a bi-national body established in 2011 to guide the strategic direction of the education and research partnerships between the two countries.
Aim: To provide a platform for academic and skill experts to discuss a wide range of mutually agreed priorities, with the ultimate aim of shaping the future of education and skilling in both our nations.

CBSE to open new administrative Office in UAE

In a significant development for the Indian expatriate community in the United Arab Emirates, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a meeting with the Principals of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) affiliated schools in Dubai.
One of the significant announcements made during the meeting was the acceptance of a long-standing demand by CBSE schools to open a regional administrative office in UAE, recognizing the country's central role in overseeing CBSE-affiliated schools in the GCC region.
The new office is set to come in the Emirate of Dubai, UAE. This decision is expected to streamline operations and enhance the educational experience for students and teachers in these schools.
The meeting was marked by a sense of unity and inclusion, encapsulated in the phrase "Vasudaiva Kutumbakam," which translates to "the world is one family." This move towards greater inclusivity is a promising development for the Indian expatriate community and the education sector in the UAE.

'AI' named Collins Word of the Year for 2023

The abbreviation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been named the Collins Word of the Year for 2023.
Lexicographers at Collins Dictionary said use of the term had "accelerated" and that it had become the dominant conversation of 2023.
We know that AI has been a big focus this year in the way that it has developed and has quickly become as ubiquitous and embedded in our lives as email, streaming or any other once futuristic, now everyday technology," Collins managing director Alex Beecroft said.
The word "permacrisis", defined as "an extended period of instability and insecurity" was the Collins word of the year in 2022.

First Australia India Education and Skill Council (AIESC) meeting to be held tomorrow at IIT Gand...

The First Australia India Education and Skill Council (AIESC) meeting will be held at IIT Gandhinagar in Gujarat today.
The Ministry of Education said that the AIESC, earlier the Australian India Education Council (AIEC), is a bi-national body established in 2011 to guide the strategic direction of the education, training, and research partnerships between the two countries.
The scope of this forum was enhanced in alignment with the national priorities of both countries to bring focus on promoting internationalisation, two-way mobility, and collaboration in the domains of education as well as the skill ecosystem. This is the first time that education and skilling are being brought under the same institutional forum.
The meeting will be jointly chaired by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Australian Education Miniaster Jason Clare and Brendan O'Connor, Minister for Skills and Training, Government of Australia.
This meeting will provide a platform for academic and skill experts to discuss a wide range of mutually agreed priorities, with the ultimate aim of shaping the future of education and skilling in both our nations.

EMBIBE Signs MoU with Uttar Pradesh Govt. to Offer Free NEP-aligned AI-led Learning

The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education and Secondary Education Departments signed a non-financial MoU with EMBIBE to accelerate the achievement of Nipun Bharat goals for UP.
As per EMBIBE, it was chosen for its interactive content library and Artificial Intelligence-led personalisation for better classroom teaching, student learning as well as learning outcomes enhancement in Science, Math and Social Science across over 55,000 schools.
According to reports, this partnership with the Uttar Pradesh government takes Embibe's footprint to 104,464 schools across 25 states across India, covering 596,250 teachers and 17,097,362 students.

MIT-WPU and ICAI Join Hands to Enhance Accounting and Financial Education in the Country

MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate to enhance accounting and finance education in the country.
the MoU was formalized during the "R.I.D.E" conclave, a 5-day event centered around Research, Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship, which took place at the university's Kothrud Campus.
The MOU encourages cooperation and interaction between respective staff, including inter-institutional visits, faculty exchange, academic publications, research and educational collaboration, and Faculty Development Programmes (FDP) in the areas of common interest among many other things.
