NCP (Ajit Pawar) Picks Sunetra Pawar as its Rajya Sabha Nominee

Sunetra Pawar, the wife of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, filed her nomination as the Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls. The party finalised her name in a meeting.
Sunetra recently contested the Lok Sabha elections from the Baramati constituency, where she faced off against sitting MP and Sharad Pawar's daughter, Supriya Sule, in a high-voltage family battle. She lost to Sule by a margin of 1.58 lakh votes.

PM Modi Leaves for Italy, 1st Foreign Trip this Term

Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Italy to attend the 50th G7 leaders' summit. It is his first trip abroad after assuming charge as the Prime Minister for the third term.
PM Modi attended the G7 summit for the fifth time in a row. India has attended 10 G7 summits in the past; this the 11th one.

Chandrababu Naidu Sworn in as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister for 4th Term

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu took oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for a fourth term. Ally and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan along with Naidu's son Nara Lokesh were among 24 leaders who took oath as ministers for the state. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, J. P. Nadda as well as Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde.
The oath ceremony took place near Medha IT Park opposite Gannavaram Airport in Kesarapalli on the outskirts of Vijayawada. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in alliance with Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Pawan Kalyan's JanaSena Party contested Andhra Pradesh Assembly polls and Lok Sabha elections. In the Lok Sabha polls, the alliance performed strongly, securing 21 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The TDP won 16 seats, BJP three and Jana Sena Party two.

Kanimozhi Replaces T. R. Baalu as DMK Parliamentary Party Leader

DMK MP Kanimozhi, who was elected from the Thoothukudi Lok Sabha constituency, has been appointed as the party's parliamentary leader.
She replaced the Sriperumbudur MP T. R. Baalu, who will now head the DMK in the Lok Sabha.
Dayanidhi Maran, representing the Chennai Central constituency, will be the party's deputy leader in the Lok Sabha.
Former Union Minister A. Raja from the Nilgiris constituency will be the Whip in the Lok Sabha while Tiruchi N Siva was appointed as the DMK leader in the Rajya Sabha.

Mohan Charan Majhi Sworn in as BJP's First CM in Odisha

BJP MLA from Keonjhar Mohan Charan Majhi, who belongs to the tribal Santhal community, took oath as Odisha's Chief Minister. The party picked two Deputy CMs, K. V. Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, who became the first woman Deputy CM of the state.
Majhi secured victory in Keonjhar by 11,577 votes, defeating the BJD's Mina Majhi.
The BJP dethroned the Biju Janata Dal in Odisha after the 24-year-old reign of Naveen Patnaik.

Modi 3.0 Cabinet Portfolios Announced

Prime Minister Narendra Modi kept 34 ministers from his previous Cabinet, including 19 Cabinet ministers, as he embarked on his third term. Prominent leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, and S. Jaishankar retained their previous portfolios. The new Council of Ministers was unveiled a day after the swearing-in ceremony, where a total of 71 leaders from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) took oath and joined the government. The restructured ministries reflect Modi's vision and priorities for his third tenure as Prime Minister.
Some of the new ministers and their portfolio are: Shivraj Singh Chouhan was given the charge of Agriculture and Rural Development. The Aviation Ministry was given to TDP's Rammohan Naidu. J. P. Nadda is the new Health Minister. Manohar Lal Khattar was given Housing and Urban Affairs, Power , H.D. Kumaraswamy Minister of Heavy Industries; Minister of Steel, Piyush Goyal Minister of Commerce and Industry and Dharmendra Pradhan Education Ministry.

Odisha Assembly Election: BJP Appoints Rajnath Singh, Bhupender Yadav for Electing Next CM

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appointed two senior leaders including Union Minister Rajnath Singh and Bhupender Yadav as its central observers tasked with overseeing the appointment of the Chief Minister of Odisha.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), BJP secured 78 seats out of 147 assembly seats while BJD won 51 seats, which is way behind the majority mark of 74. The Congress managed 14 seats in the assembly election.
Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and close aide of caretaker Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, V. K. Pandian resigned from active politics. He made this announcement following the party's defeat in the Odisha assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Prem Singh Tamang Takes Oath as Sikkim Chief Minister

Legislature party leader of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), Prem Singh Tamang, took oath as Chief Minister of the Himalayan state of Sikkim.
Governor Lakshman Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy to Tamang and his Council of Ministers during the swearing-in ceremony at Paljor stadium.
Tamang, who took oath as Chief Minister for a second term, was unanimously elected the leader of the legislature party during a meeting of the SKM.

Six Former CMs Joins PM Modi's New Cabinet

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new cabinet was sworn in and it includes six former Chief Ministers. The Modi cabinet comprises of 30 ministers. Notably, Prime Minister Modi himself was the Chief Minister of Gujarat before stepping onto the national stage.
The six former Chief Ministers are:
A seasoned politician who served three terms as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, former two-term Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, Rajnath Singh who previously governed Uttar Pradesh, Sarbananda Sonowal
was the Chief Minister of Assam from May 24, 2016 to May 10, 2021, Jitan Ram Manjhi served as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a brief period from May 20, 2014 to February 20, 2015 and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, H. D. Kumaraswamy.

PM Narendra Modi Takes Oath for the 3rd term as PM

Prime Minister Narendra was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time by President Droupadi Murmur at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.
His swearing-in ceremony was followed by Cabinet Ministers taking oath of office. Senior BJP leaders including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, J. P. Nadda and others were administered oath by the President.

Raj Priy Singh Appointed Director in Department of Rural Development

Raj Priy Singh, an Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer of the 2010 batch, was appointed as the Director in the Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Rural Development. His appointment followed a recommendation for Central deputation by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and is governed by the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS).
Raj Priy Singh's appointment as Director in the Department of Rural Development is under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years, effective from the date he assumes charge of the post or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.

Third Indian Analytical Congress Explores 'Green Transitions'

The 3rd Indian Analytical Congress, an international conference organized by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP) and the Indian Society of Analytical Scientists (ISAS-Delhi Chapter), was held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, from June 5 to 7, 2024.
The conference aimed to provide a platform for analytical scientists, technologists, academics, and students to exchange ideas and discuss the latest developments in this field. It was inaugurated by Prof. S. K. Mehta, Vice-Chancellor of Ladakh University.
The theme of the 3rd Indian Analytical Congress 2024 'Role of Science and Technology in Green Transitions', highlighted the importance of sustainable development and environmental conservation.
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP), established in Dehradun on April 14, 1960, is a premier research and development body in the country, focusing on innovative technologies for refining crude petroleum oil and its products.
