Fourth Edition of India-US Naval Exercise Tiger Triumph

  • The Fourth edition of the bilateral Tri-Service India-US Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise, Tiger Triumph, is taking place on the Eastern Seaboard from April 1 to 13, as per the Indian Navy.
  • The Indian Navy noted that the exercise aims to develop interoperability for conducting HADR operations and formulating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to establish a Combined Coordination Center (CCC) that would enable rapid and smooth coordination between Indian and US Joint Task Forces (JTF) during exercises, crises, and contingencies.
  • As per the Indian Navy, the Harbour Phase is being held at Visakhapatnam from April 1-7.
  • Upon the completion of the Harbour Phase, the ships with troops embarked would sail for a sea phase and undertake maritime, amphibious and HADR operations off Kakinada.

India and Russia Conduct 14th Edition of Maritime Bilateral Exercise - INDRA 2025

  • India and Russia are conducting the 14th edition of the bilateral naval exercise, INDRA 2025, from March 28 to April 2, 2025, off the coast of Chennai and in the Bay of Bengal. Since its inception in 2003, Exercise INDRA has been a symbol of the strategic partnership between the Indian Navy and Russian Navy, aimed at improving naval interoperability and operational coordination. The exercise is taking place in two phases: the Harbour Phase (March 28-30) in Chennai and the Sea Phase (March 31-April 2) in the Bay of Bengal. It involves advanced naval drills, live weapon firings, and cooperative engagements to strengthen maritime cooperation and security.

IAF Participating in Multi-nation Wargame in Greece

  • The Indian Air Force (IAF) is participating in a 12-day mega wargame in Greece from March 31 to April 11 aimed at simulating modern-day air warfare challenges. The assets deployed by the IAF for the biennial INIOCHOS-25 exercise at the Andravida air base include Su-30 MKI fighter jets along with combat enabler IL-78 and C-17 Globemaster aircraft.
  • The exercise will further reinforce India's strategic partnerships-and bolster its capabilities in joint operations with friendly nations.
  • The exercise has integrated multiple air and surface assets from fifteen countries under realistic combat scenarios, designed to simulate modern-day air warfare challenges.

Modi Inaugurates First Private Sector Defence Drone Runway

  • PM Narendra Modi unveiled India's first private sector military drone testing runway and loitering munition test facility during a visit to Nagpur.
  • The first-of-its-kind testing facility has a 1.27-km long runway dedicated to developing indigenous Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) and High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) drones for the Indian Armed forces. The PM also dedicated a 1,080-acre test range for loitering munition at the same complex, geared to develop next-generation munition by Solar Defence and Aerospace.

  • The Indian Army conducted a Tri-Service integrated multi-domain warfare exercise, 'Prachand Prahaar,' in the high-altitude terrain of Arunachal Pradesh from March 25 to 27, 2025. The exercise aimed at validating an integrated approach to surveillance, command and control, and precision firepower across the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
  • The exercise was conducted under the Eastern Command and showcased the seamless coordination of the three services in executing modern warfare tactics. It focused on jointness, technological superiority, and multi-domain operational preparedness to counter potential threats effectively.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi Inaugurates New North Jetty at Naval Base

  • Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi inaugurated the new North Jetty at the Naval Base in Kochi in March 2025. The jetty is designed to enhance berthing capacity and support services for naval ships and auxiliary vessels, strengthening India's maritime capability and operational efficiency.
  • The newly inaugurated North Jetty is an important infrastructure addition to the Southern Naval Command. Extending 300 metres in length and 18 metres in width, it is capable of accommodating various classes of naval ships, improving the berthing and logistical operations at the Kochi Naval Base.
  • According to an official release, the jetty will provide the Indian Navy with enhanced operational flexibility, allowing for efficient turnaround of major naval combatants and ensuring better maritime security operations in the southern peninsula.
