Indian Air Force Participates in Multinational Exercise Desert Flag-10 in UAE
A contingent of the Indian Air Force is in Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates and participating in Exercise Desert Flag-10. The exercise is being hosted by the UAE Air Force. The primary aim of the exercise is to undertake complex and diverse fighter engagements, with the exchange of operational knowledge and best practices with some of the most capable air forces in the world. The exercise is being held from April 21 to May 8.
Exercise Desert Flag-10 stands out as a premier air combat exercise due to its impressive roster of participating nations. Hosted by the UAE Air Force, the exercise brings together aerial contingents from twelve countries, creating a diverse and challenging training environment. Participating nations include Australia, Bahrain, France, Germany, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Republic of Korea, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the United States, alongside India.

Second Edition of Tri-services Future Warfare Course
The second edition of Tri-services Future Warfare Course for senior military officers is being held at Manekshaw Centre from April 21 to May 9. The three-week course focuses on how technology impacts war-fighting, "necessitating a re-look at the thinking, concepts, doctrines, strategies and tactics, techniques and procedures.
The course is being conducted under the aegis of Integrated Defence Staff headquarters and coordinated by the tri-services think-tank Centre for Joint Warfare Studies.
This edition features an enhanced curriculum covering specialised subjects and domain-specific warfare developments in military operations.
Building on the success of the first course held in September 2024, this expanded three-week programme continues the vision of Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan to prepare officers for the complex challenges of modern warfare.
US, Philippines Launch Exercise 'Balikatan' near Taiwan
The Philippine and US militaries kicked off three weeks of joint exercises that will simulate a full-scale battle scenario, as the two allies seek to deter to Beijing's ambitions in the disputed South China Sea.
Around 17,000 troops are taking part in the annual 'Balikatan', or 'shoulder to shoulder' exercise, which for the first time includes an integrated air and missile defence. The exercise is being held from April 21 to May 9, 2025.

India's First Defence MoU with Slovakia Through JCBL Group
India and Slovakia signed a significant defence Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at bolstering India's domestic defence manufacturing capabilities. This agreement, in April 2025, marks the first of its kind between the two countries. Under the partnership, JCBL Group's defence unit, Airbornics Defence & Space Pvt. Ltd. (ADSL), will collaborate with Slovakia to develop cutting-edge technologies for next-generation combat vehicles, strengthening India's indigenous manufacturing initiative. The MoU emphasises India's ongoing efforts to reduce its dependency on foreign defence imports by enhancing self-reliance in defence production.

The Indian Navy hosted the 3rd edition of its prestigious Meteorological and Oceanological Symposium – Meghayan-25 at Nausena Bhawan, New Delhi. The event marked the celebration of World Meteorological Day 2025 and aimed at promoting awareness and collaboration in Marine Meteorology and Oceanology. Gujarat Police's GP-DRASTI Drone Program: Enhancing Public Safety
The GP-DRASTI (Drone Response and Aerial Surveillance Tactical Interventions) program, introduced by the Gujarat police, marks a significant leap in modernising law enforcement in the state. This initiative involves using quadcopters for enhanced crime monitoring, quicker response times, and better crime scene documentation. The program is designed to be a quick reaction force multiplier and evidence gatherer, particularly in the urban areas of Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, and Vadodara, which have witnessed a surge in gang-related violence. Drones, which have been used for various policing tasks, are now being integrated at the police station level, allowing for real-time surveillance and faster deployment to crime scenes.
Multilateral Naval Exercise AIKEYME 2025
In a significant move to enhance maritime cooperation and regional security, India and Tanzania co-hosted the inaugural edition of the multilateral naval exercise Africa India Key Maritime Engagement (AIKEYME) from April 13 to 18, 2025. The word AIKEYME, meaning Unity in Sanskrit, aptly reflects the spirit of the event, which brought together navies from Comoros, Djibouti, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, South Africa, and the co-host nations.
The harbour phase, from April 13–15, included a formal inauguration ceremony and a deck reception, with India's Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, and Tanzania's Defence Minister as chief guests.
From April 16 to 18, the sea phase focused on practical drills to improve interoperability, maritime surveillance, and coordinated operations between participating countries. The joint exercises aimed to develop collaborative responses to shared regional maritime threats.
