Francisca Susano, Oldest Person in the World, Dies
The oldest person on the earth, Francisca Susano, who was born in the 19th century passed away in the Philippines' Negros Occidental province.
Francisca Susano or 'Lola' was 124 years old which makes her the oldest person in the world breaking the record of France's Jeanne Calment, who attained the age of 122.
Her official declaration as the oldest person in the world at 124 years old is currently validated by the Guinness World Records.

Eminent Assamese Poet Sananta Tanty Passes Away
Sahitya Akademi Award-winning poet Sananta Tanty died at a private hospital in New Delhi. He was 69.
Tanty received several awards and recognitions, including the Sahitya Akademi in 2016 for 'Kailoir Dinto Amar Hobo' (Tomorrow Will Be Ours), a collection of his poems in Assamese.
He started his professional career as an employee of the Assam Tea Employees' Provident Fund Organisation in Jorhat in 1971 and retired as Deputy Provident Fund Commissioner in 2012.
His poems reflected realistic scenes of life and society. He played the role of a conscious citizen through his writings.

Former South Korean President Chun Doo-hwan Passes Away
Former South Korean President Chun Doo-hwan, whose iron-fisted rule of the country following a 1979 military coup sparked massive democracy protests, died at the age of 90.
A former military commander, Chun presided over the 1980 Gwangju army massacre of pro-democracy demonstrators, a crime for which he was later convicted and received a commuted death sentence.
He served as the fifth President of South Korea from 1980 to 1988.
