Actor-screenwriter Shiv Kumar Subramaniam passed away, he was known for his roles in the serial Mukti Bandhan and Meenakshi Sundareshwar. He started his career by writing a screenplay for the 1989 film Parinda which was directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Story for Hazaron Khawaishein Aisis. He worked in films like 2 States, Hichki, Nail Polish, Rocky Handsome and more.

Veteran Actor Shiv Kumar Subrahmaniam Passes Away
Veteran actor and writer Shiv Kumar Subrahmaniam passed away in Mumbai. He was 62 years old. Known for penning critically-acclaimed films "Parinda", "1942: A Love Story" and "Chameli", Subrahmanyam had also featured in films like "2 States", "Hichki", "Stanley Ka Dabba", "Kaminey" and "Meenakshi Sundareshwar".
Various colleagues and industry friends including actor Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and filmmaker Sudhir Mishra, among others took to Twitter to pay homage to Subrahmanyam.

Noted Lyricist Maya Govind Dies
Veteran lyricist and poet Maya Govind, known for penning popular songs like "Main Khiladi Tu Anadi" and "Aankhon Mein Base Ho Tum", died following a heart attack. She was 82.
The veteran, who started working in the industry in the early 70s, wrote songs for wide-ranging films.

Face of Gurjar Quota protests in Rajasthan, Kirori Singh Bainsla Dies
Gurjar community leader Colonel (retired) Kirori Singh Bainsla passed away at the age of 84.
Bainsla was the face of Gurjar quota protests in Rajasthan.
In 2007 and 2008, the Gurjar leader led the quota agitation.
During the agitation, over 70 people were killed in police firing and other violent incidents during the protest, which included rail and road blockades in the eastern Rajasthan districts of Bharatpur, Karauli, Dausa and Sawai Madhopur.
Bainsla served in the Indian Army for three decades. He was part of the war against China in 1962 as well as the India-Pakistan wars in 1965 and 1971.
