Steel Man of India Jamshed J Irani Passes Away

Jamshed J. Irani, known as the steel man of India, died in Jamshedpur. He was 86.
Irani retired from the board of Tata Steel in June 2011, leaving behind a legacy of 43 years, which won him and the company international acclaim in various fields.
Born on June 2, 1936 in Nagpur to Jiji Irani and Khorshed Irani, Irani completed his BSc from Science College, Nagpur in 1956 and MSc in Geology from the Nagpur University in 1958.
He then went to the University of Sheffield in UK as a J N Tata scholar, where he secured a Masters in Metallurgy in 1960, and a PhD in Metallurgy in 1963.
He started his professional career with the British Iron and Steel Research Association in Sheffield in 1963, but always yearned to contribute to the Nation's progress. He returned to India to join The Tata Iron and Steel Company (now Tata Steel), as it was then known, in 1968, and joined the firm as Assistant to the Director in-charge of Research and Development.
He went on to become General Superintendent in 1978, General Manager in 1979, and President of Tata Steel in 1985. He became Joint Managing Director of Tata Steel in 1988, and Managing Director in 1992.

Singapore's First Defence Chief Vij Dies

Singapore's first Defence Chief and Ambassador Brigadier-General (BG) Kirpa Ram Vij died. He was 87. Vij served as Singapore's Ambassador to Egypt from 1974 to 1979, with concurrent non-residential accreditation to Pakistan, Yugoslavia, Lebanon, and Ethiopia. He joined the Defence Ministry in 1966 and was instrumental in setting up the Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute (SAFTI).
He retired from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in 1974.

Veteran Director Esmayeel Shroff Passes Away at 62

Director of many 80s and 90s hits, Esmayeel Shroff is no more.
The veteran Bollywood director expired at Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani hospital in Mumbai following an illness.
He was 62 years old. Esmayeel Shroff was reportedly admitted almost a month ago after suffering a heart attack.
Esmayeel hailed from Andhra Pradesh.

John Shaw, Husband of Biocon Chief Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Passes Away

Biocon executive chairperson Kiran Mazumdar Shaw's husband John Shaw passed away. He was 73.
Shaw was the former vice chairman of the Bengaluru-headquartered Biocon Limited.
He was an MA (Economics Honours) in History and Political Economy from the University of Glasgow in United Kingdom.
He was also the former chairman of Madura Coats Limited and former finance and managing director of Coats Viyella Group.

Karnataka Assembly Deputy Speaker Anand Mamani Passes Away

Anand Mamani the Deputy Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly, died after suffering from health-related complications.
Anand Mamani was a three-time legislator from the Savadatti constituency in the Belagavi district. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru.
During the monsoon session of the legislature held in September, he was rushed to a hospital in Chennai as his health deteriorated.
Following his demise, the BJP called off its Jana Sankalpa Yatra, which was scheduled to be held at Chittapur and Aland in Kalaburagi district Sunday. The Kittur Utsava in Belagavi district, too, was cancelled.

Fire-Boltt Appoints Vijay Deverakonda as its New Brand Ambassador

Boltt Games Private Limited's Fire-Boltt brand appointed actor and film producer Vijay Deverakonda as its new brand ambassador. Alongside cricketing legend Virat Kohli and actors Vicky Kaushal and Kiara Advani, Devarakonda would participate in the company's commercial marketing efforts and would help in establishing its presence in the Indian market.
The company incubated by Savex Technologies.
The actor would be a part of different marketing, ad, and endorsement campaigns for the company. His persona resonates with the brand identity and will be an inspiration to numerous young fans.

Bandhan Bank brought Sourav Ganguly as its brand ambassador.
