Cabinet Approves National Logistics Policy for 'Tech-enabled' Ecosystem

  • The Union Cabinet approved the National Logistics Policy (NLP) that aims to enable seamless movement of goods across the country as well as improve the competitiveness of Indian goods in the domestic and export markets.
  • The policy has three targets: to reduce the cost of logistics in India to be comparable to global benchmarks by 2030, improve the global Logistics Performance Index ranking, and create a data-driven decision support mechanism.
  • India's logistics cost as a proportion of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is believed to be around 13-14 per cent. The government now aims to bring it down to single digits as soon as possible.

  • Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren unveiled the new state sports policy, which aims to augment sports infrastructure to provide world-class facilities to young talented players.
  • The Jharkhand Sports Policy 2022, which envisages a plan for a period of five years, came after a gap of 15 years as the last sports policy was launched in 2007.

TN CM Stalin Inaugurates Free Breakfast Scheme for Primary School Students

  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the free breakfast scheme for the government school students of classes 1 to 5 at Madurai.
  • The Tamil Nadu government chose September 15 for inaugurating the scheme as this is the birthday of the DMK founder leader and former Chief Minister, Late C.N. Annadurai.

Chhattisgarh Govt. Extends Hydropower Policy till 2032

  • The Chhattisgarh government extended the period of policy to promote small hydropower (SHP) projects in the state for another 10 years, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has said.
  • The SHP policy expired in February 2022. The policy promotes the development of SHP projects up to 25 megawatt (Mw) capacities. Chhattisgarh has an identified potential of about 1,200 Mw in the SHP.
  • The state cabinet has also approved the Chhattisgarh State Hydropower Project (Pump Storage Based) Establishment Policy 2022 to encourage investment in establishing pump storage-based hydropower projects in the state.

Rajasthan Launches 100-day Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme

  • The Rajasthan government launched an ambitious scheme to provide 100 days of employment to needy families in urban areas on the lines of rural employment guarantee scheme MGNREGA.
  • More than 2.25 lakh families have already registered for the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Scheme which was proposed by chief minister Ashok Gehlot in the state budget this year.
  • The scheme launched covers works like environment protection, water and heritage conservation, garden maintenance, and removing encroachments, illegal sign boards, hoardings, banners etc.
  • Sanitation, cleanliness and other such works will also be undertaken under the scheme.
  • People from the age group of 18 to 60 are eligible for the scheme.
