JNU Appoints Professor Manuradha Chaudhary as New Dean of Students
The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) appointed Professor Manuradha Chaudhary as its new Dean of Students (DoS).
Professor Chaudhary succeeded Professor Sudhir Pratap Singh from the Centre of Indian Languages and School of Language Literature and Cultural Studies for a period of three years.
NLU Delhi Launches Joint Masters in IP Law and Management; Signs Tripartite MoU
The National Law University (NLU), Delhi announced the signing of the tripartite MoU between National Law University Delhi with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and Office of Controller General of Patents Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM -Indian IP Office), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India for launching the Joint Masters/LLM in IP Law and Management from August 2024.
The one-year global programme will be offered in dual track (i.e. law and non-law background) to students from India, South Asia and to other foreign nationals.
This MoU was signed by Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) G. S. Bajpai with Daren Tang, Director General, WIPO and Prof (Dr) Unnat Pandit, Controller General, IP Office, in the presence of the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal and the Minister of State, Som Prakash, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Secretary and Joint Secretary, DPIIT and other officials of the DPIIT and WIPO at Vanijya Bhavan, New Delhi.
Nagaland's First Medical College Inaugurated By Union Health Minister
Union Health Minister Mansukh L. Mandaviya along with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio officially inaugurated Nagaland's first medical college, the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR) at Phreibagei in Kohima.
Despite being the second oldest state in the Northeast after Assam, Nagaland has been the only state in the region without a medical college.
Mandaviya expressed happiness that Nagaland finally has its own medical college, not only for the purpose of medical education but also as a research centre to address health issues in the region.

Supreme Court, IIT Madras Sign MoU to Enable Digital Transformation of Judiciary
The Supreme Court and IIT Madras signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate the digital transformation of the Indian judiciary and improve access to justice.
According to a press release issued by the public relations office of the apex court, the MoU was signed following the visit of Chief Justice of India D. Y. Chandrachud to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras in July 2023.

The Karnataka government issued a government order to constitute a State Education Policy Commission for preparation of draft Karnataka State Education Policy and appointed former UGC chief Sukhdev Thorat as the chairman of the Commission. Thorat is also an eminent educationist, economist, professor, and a writer.
The government has directed the commission to submit a report by February 28, 2024.
The government appointed Bhagyavana S. Mudigoudra, Special Officer, Department of Higher Education, as the Member Secretary to the commission and the coordinator of the proceedings of the meeting.

JK Group's B-School Launches First Residential MBA Programme in Product Management
JK Group's Hari Shankar Singhania School of Business (HSB) launched the first two-year fully residential MBA programme with specialiation in product management programme at its campus in JK Lakshmipat University's premises in Jaipur.
According to a statement issued by the group, this is the only full-time residential MBA in Product Management course to be offered by an Indian business school.
Addressing the launching ceremony of the programme, R P Singhania, the chairman and MD of JK Tyre and Industries and also the pro-chancellor of K Lakshmipat University (JKLU), said that the course is designed to equip learners with cutting-edge, industry-relevant skills that will empower them to make informed business decisions.
The programme is designed for those who are comfortable with technology, preferably with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) background, and a proven track record of two to four years in full-time industry roles.
UP Bags Award for Using Tele Tech for Mental Health & Counselling
UP bagged the third prize in operationalising telemanas- using tele technology for mental health and counselling - on the National Mental Health Day.
The award was given by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Mission director, National Health Mission Uttar Pradesh, Pinky Joval received the award.
The National Tele Mental Health Programme was inaugurated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on October 10, 2022 on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.

ISRO in collaboration with VIBHA organizes exhibition Space on Wheels
In Arunachal Pradesh, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in collaboration with Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) is organizing an exhibition called "Space on Wheels" program in East Siang District.
The programme which features a mobile exhibition vehicle showcasing sophisticated models of satellites, launching vehicles, and communication systems aims to bring the wonders of space exploration to the doorstep of students and enthusiasts across the region.
In the two-day programme in the district, on the first day, the exhibition was held at JN College Pasighat yesterday wherein students from various schools and colleges participated.
The primary objective of the "Space on Wheels" program is to provide valuable insights into ISRO's activities and India's space missions to school and college students. It also aims to sensitize the youth about the exciting and rewarding career opportunities in the field of space science.
