National Endangered Species Day 2022

Every year on the third Friday in May National Endangered Species Day is celebrated annually to raise awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation and restoration efforts for all imperilled species. Endangered Species Act 1973, focuses on the protection of wildlife and threatened species.
The day spread awareness about the importance of protecting endangered species, their habitats and taking actions necessary to protect them. Therefore, Endangered Species Day recognises the national conservation efforts to protect our nation's endangered species and their habitats. Several events and youth contest are held at various wildlife refuges, zoos, parks, community centres, aquariums, botanical gardens, libraries, schools and colleges etc.

World AIDS Vaccine Day

Worlds AIDS Vaccine Day or HIV Vaccine Awareness Day is observed every year on 18 May. This day marks the efforts of thousands of researchers, scientists, and health professionals who have contributed to the process of finding safe and effective AIDS medicine. It is also an opportunity to educate communities about the importance of preventive HIV vaccine research. World AIDS Vaccine Day is a day dedicated to emphasize the ongoing urgent requirement of an HIV vaccine; and also acknowledge the insurmountable work done by healthcare professionals, researchers on HIV, all across the globe, World AIDS Vaccine Day is an extremely significant event.

International Museum Day

International Museum Day is observed on 18 May every year to raise awareness about the museum and its role in society. The International Council of Museums (ICOM) created International Museum Day in 1977.
Each year, the event highlights a specific theme that reflects a relevant issue facing museums. This year's theme is The Power of Museums. More than 37,000 museums across the globe took part in the event in 158 countries and territories.

World Hypertension Day

This day is celebrated by World Hypertension League (WHL) on 17 May annually. The first World Hypertension Day was observed on May 14, 2005, by the World Hypertension League, an umbrella organization of 85 national hypertension societies, with an aim to increase awareness about the condition. The following year the day was observed on May 17 and has been an annual practice since then. World Hypertension League aims not only to raise awareness about hypertension but also of its factors and prevention methods since it affects more than a billion people.
The theme for World Hypertension Day 2022 was 'Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control it, Live Longer. The theme focuses to combat low awareness rates worldwide, especially in low to middle-income areas with accurate blood pressure measurement methods.

World Telecommunication Day

World Telecommunication Day is observed every year on 17 May. It marks the founding of ITU when the first International Telegraph Convention was signed in Paris on 17 May, 1865. It is also known as World Telecommunication and International Society Day. Since 1969, it has been celebrated annually.
Every year, the day is celebrated under a particular theme, and the theme for 2022 was - Digital Technologies For Older Persons And Healthy Ageing. This year's theme emphasizes the use of information technologies and their importance to stay healthy, connected, and independent on a physical, emotional, and financial level.

Sikkim 47th Statehood Day

On May 16, 1975, Sikkim became the 22nd state of India. Each year, it marks the occasion with a holiday and a series of events. Year 2022 marked 47 years since Sikkim officially became a state of India. On May 15, 1975, then President of India, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, signed a constitutional amendment, and, a day later, Sikkim became the 22nd state of India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind as well as several Ministers also extended their best wishes to the state and people of Sikkim on the occasion.

Ministry of Culture to organise a week-long celebration for 'International Museum Day' across its...

Under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava, on the occasion of the International Museum Day (IMD), the Ministry of Culture, will organise a week-long celebration across its museums from.
The National Museum (New Delhi), National Gallery of Modern Art (New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru), Allahabad Museum (Prayagraj), Indian Museum (Kolkata), Victoria Memorial Hall (Kolkata), Salar Jung Museum (Hyderabad) and Science cities and centers under National Council of Science Museums (in 24 locations across India) are undertaking special initiatives throughout the designated week.
- The Ministry of Culture has already announced free entry for visitors to all the museums across the country under the Ministry of Culture during the week 16th to 20th May,2022.

International Day of Families

International Day of Families is observed every year on 15 May. Family is the basic unit of society. This day provides an opportunity to raise awareness about the issues related to the families and to increase knowledge about the social, economic and demographic processes that affect them.
The theme for International Day of Families 2022 "Families and Urbanization", aims to raise awareness on the importance of sustainable, family-friendly urban policies. Urbanization is one of the most important megatrends shaping our world and the life and wellbeing of families worldwide.
Founded by the United Nations (UN) in 1994 the International Day of Families is observed every May 15 to honor the importance of families. Families—both traditional and non-traditional—are the foundation of society. Our most formative years are spent with our families and those people are likely the most important people in our lives, so they should be celebrated.
