India Successfully Flight-tests Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile
India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted a successful flight test of the Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile (ITCM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of the eastern state of Odisha.
As per DRDO, all subsystems performed as per expectation during the test.
After the launch, the performance of the missile was monitored by several Range Sensors such as Radar, Electro Optical Tracking System (EOTS) and Telemetry.
Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi to Take Over as Navy Chief
Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi is set to take over as the next Navy Chief from April 30, with the government clearing his appointment for the role.
He is currently serving as Vice Chief of the Naval Staff and will succeed Admiral R. Hari Kumar who retires from service on April 30.
The top officer was commissioned on July 1, 1985 into the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy and has a distinguished service of nearly four decades.
A Communication and Electronic Warfare specialist, he served as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command prior to taking over as VCNS.
He also served as Commandant of the prestigious Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala and Chief of Personnel in the naval headquarters.
General Manoj Pande Inaugurates High-Tech IT Lab at Academy of Armed Forces in Uzbekistan
During his visit to Uzbekistan from April 15 to 18, 2024, Chief of the Army Staff, General Manoj Pande, marked a significant milestone in bilateral defense cooperation between India and Uzbekistan by inaugurating a state-of-the-art IT Laboratory at the Uzbek Academy of Armed Forces. This initiative stems from a commitment made during the Defence Ministers' meeting in September 2018, highlighting the growing partnership between the two nations.
During his visit, General Pande engaged in discussions with First Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Khalmukhamedov Shukhrat Gayratjanovich, focusing on enhancing military cooperation between the Indian and Uzbek Armies. This interaction underscores the commitment to bolstering strategic ties and fostering mutual understanding.
The establishment of the high-tech IT Laboratory is a collaborative effort between India and Uzbekistan, with Indian assistance facilitating its inception. Equipped with cutting-edge technology and funded through the Ministry of External Affairs' 'c' initiative, the Lab is poised to enhance training resources for the Uzbek armed forces, promoting technological advancement and cooperation between the two nations.
Despite initial budget constraints, the project gained momentum and was successfully executed within the allotted timeframe. An Indian firm won the contract and ensured the Lab's full operational readiness, showcasing the commitment to excellence and collaborative partnership between India and Uzbekistan.
General Pande's visit and the inauguration of the IT Laboratory underscore a significant milestone in the defense cooperation between India and Uzbekistan. This initiative not only strengthens bilateral ties but also reinforces the commitment to mutual growth and development in the realm of defense technology and cooperation.

DRDO Chairman Samir Kamat Inaugurates Indian Navy's 'SPACE' in Kerala
A state-of-the-art Submersible Platform for Acoustic Characterization and Evaluation (SPACE) was inaugurated at Kerala's Idukki.
Samir V. Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence--Research and Development (R&D)--and Chairman, DRDO, inaugurated the platform at Underwater Acoustic Research Facility in Kulamavu in Idukki.
As per reports, SPACE, set up by the Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory of DRDO, has been designed as a premier testing and evaluation hub for sonar systems destined for Indian Navy onboard various platforms, including ships, submarines and helicopters.
The SPACE marks a milestone in naval technology advancement. It will consist of two distinct assemblages- a platform that floats on the water surface, and a submersible platform that can be lowered to any depth up to 100 m using winch systems. Upon completion of operations, the submersible platform can be winched up and docked with the floating platform.

First International Workshop on 'Emerging Technologies & Challenges for Exoskeleton'
The first international workshop on 'Emerging Technologies & Challenges for Exoskeleton' was held in Bengaluru. The workshop, which was organised by the Defence Bio-Engineering & Electromedical Laboratory of Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), was inaugurated by Secretary, Department of Defence R&D & Chairman DRDO Samir V. Kamat, in the presence of Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) Lt Gen J. P. Mathew.
The two-day workshop was attended by more than 300 participants from DRDO, Services, Industry, Academia, and Researchers. Exoskeleton technology involves wearable structures which enhance the capabilities of the human body.

DRDO & Indian Army Conducted Successful Trials of MPATGM Weapon System
DRDO and the Indian Army have successfully conducted trail of the indigenous Man Portable Anti-tank Guided Missile System.
The system consisted of the MPATGM, Launcher, Target Acquisition System, and the Fire Control Unit.
The Warhead Flight Trials were successfully conducted at the Pokhran Field Firing Range, Rajasthan.
Adequate number of missile firing trials have been successfully conducted towards achieving compliance of complete operational envelop as stipulated in the General Staff Qualitative Requirements (Infantry, Indian Army). The Warhead Flight Trials were successfully conducted at the Pokhran Field Firing Range, Rajasthan. Missile performance and warhead performance were found to be remarkable.
