The Hyderabad-based CSIR – Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) scientists made a groundbreaking discovery about how cells adapt their internal structures to move and change shape.
They revealed the critical role of a protein called SPIN90 in helping cells, like white blood cells, form the rapid protrusions which are necessary to chase down and destroy pathogens.

Professor Pradeep Kumar Prajapati Becomes Director of AIIA
The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, welcomed a new chapter in its leadership as Professor Pradeep Kumar Prajapati formally assumed charge as its Director in September 2025.
His appointment came at a time when the Indian government is focusing on strengthening traditional medicine systems under its AYUSH mission, and Ayurveda, in particular, was being positioned for global reach and recognition.
With decades of experience in teaching, research, and administration, Prof. Prajapati is expected to steer AIIA into a new phase of growth and international collaboration.
His leadership aligns with national goals to integrate evidence-based Ayurveda into the mainstream healthcare system.
Before this appointment, he was the Vice-Chancellor of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurved University, Jodhpur.
His academic journey included a long tenure at Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar, where he made notable contributions to research and academic development.

AIIMS Becomes First Govt Medical College in India to Train on da Vinci Robotic System
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi inaugurated the advanced da Vinci Surgical Robot at its Skills, E-Learning and Telemedicine (SET) Facility, marking a significant milestone in robotic surgery training in India.
This was the first installation of the da Vinci system for training at a government medical college in the country.
The new robotic platform, provided by Intuitive Surgical under a memorandum of understanding, makes AIIMS Delhi the only institution in India with two robotic systems dedicated solely to training.
The facility already houses a Hugo robotic trainer by Medtronic, offering comprehensive, hands-on robotic surgery training for students, residents, nurses, and faculty.

SAI and IIT Delhi Join Forces to Boost Sports Innovation
Marking a strategic leap for sports science and innovation in India, the Sports Authority of India's National Centre of Sports Science Research (SAI-NCSSR) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.
The initiative aims to integrate cutting-edge science and indigenous innovation into sports performance, in alignment with the government's Atmanirbhar Bharat and Garv se Swadeshi visions.
The MoU, signed in September 2025, was overseen by Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, who highlighted that the collaboration symbolises the government's focus on making Indian athletes globally competitive through scientific support.
