Comprehensive Handicrafts Cluster Development Scheme

Ministry of Textiles approved the continuation of Comprehensive Handicrafts Cluster Development Scheme (CHCDS).
CHCDS scheme was approved with a total outlay of Rs. 160 crore.
Scheme would continue up to March 2026 now.
Under the scheme, infrastructural support, design and technology upgradation, market access etc will be provided to handicrafts artisans.
CHCDS scheme was launched to create world-class infrastructure which will caters to the business needs of local artisans & SMEs in order to boost production and export. These clusters have been set with the objective of assisting the artisans & entrepreneurs in setting up world-class units with modern infrastructure, adequate training, latest technology, and human resource development inputs. It is also coupled with market linkages and production diversification.

Amit Shah Releases Training Manual of Aapda Mitra Scheme

Home Minister Amit Shah released the training manual of Aapda Mitra Scheme, on the occasion of 17th foundation day celebrations of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
Shah noted that, India is moving towards creating a disaster management system to ensure than not a single life is lost, no matter how severe a disaster gets.
On the occasion, he released training manual of Aapda Mitra Scheme as well as plan documents of Aapda Mitra & Common Alerting Protocol.
Foundation Day of NDMA was celebrated under the theme- 'Stopping Impact of Disaster Incidents in the Himalayan Region'.
NDMA is an apex body that lays down policies for disaster management. It was established through the Disaster Management Act, which was enacted by the Government on December 25, 2005.

Lok Sabha Speaker Launches 'NIDHI 2.0' Scheme

The Speaker of Lok Sabha, Om Birla inaugurated the NIDHI 2.0 (National Integrated Database of Hospitality Industry) scheme, during an event organised by the Ministry of Tourism. The NIDHI 2.0 database will have more inclusivity, by not only including accommodation units, but also travel agents, tour operators and others.
The NIDHI scheme was launched by the Ministry of Tourism to facilitate the digitalization of the tourism sector and promote ease of doing business for the hospitality & tourism sector, by encouraging all accommodation units to register themselves on the platform to become part of the hospitality industry.
As a part of the occasion, the Ministry of Tourism signed an MoU with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and The Responsible Tourism Society of India (RTSOI) to actively promote and support 'sustainability initiatives' in the tourism sector of each other.

Union Cabinet Approves PM-POSHAN Scheme

The Union Cabinet has given approval to start PM-POSHAN scheme to provide mid-day meal to students of more than 11.2 lakh govt. and govt-aided schools across the country.
The scheme will run for 5 years and Rs. 1.31 lakh crore will be spent.
PM-POSHAN scheme will subsume the existing Mid-day meal scheme. It will be run in partnership with state governments, but the major contribution will be of the Central government.

Koshyari Approves Ordinance to Restore OBC Reservation in Rural Local Bodies

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari approved an ordinance to restore OBC reservation in rural local bodies.
The approval comes a day after the state Cabinet sent a revised proposal to the Governor's office after he raised issues over its previous proposal.
Last week, months after the Supreme Court scrapped OBC quota in local bodies, the Maharashtra Cabinet had decided to promulgate an ordinance to restore the quota, apart from reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) within the 50 per cent reservation ceiling in rural local bodies.
