Bangladesh Educational Charity Founder Kishore Das Selected for Commonwealth Points of Light Award

The founder of educational charity 'Bidyanando', Kishore Kumar Das from Bangladesh was chosen for the Commonwealth Points of Light Award, which recognises outstanding individual volunteers. He has been selected for his exceptional work in improving access to education for children from marginalised backgrounds.
Kishore Das setup Bidyanando in 2013, which runs five primary schools which provide free education and meal programme for vulnerable.

Ukrainian Prez Zelenskyy Gets John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for Protecting Democracy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is among five people named as recipients of the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for acting to protect democracy. The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation said that he was chosen because of the way he has "marshaled the spirit, patriotism and untiring sacrifice of the Ukrainian people in a life-or-death fight for their country.
Four U.S. officials were chosen for standing up for free and fair elections, as the system was challenged in ways it has never been before. They are Republican U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers, and Fulton County, Georgia, elections worker Wandrea "Shaye" Moss.

NMDC Conferred at PRSI Awards 2022

The National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (NMDC), sweeped the Public Relations Awards 2022 conferred by Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), winning the first position in four categories. The mining major was conferred with this honour for their Corporate Website, Annual Report, Layout and Design of Newsletter, and CSR Corporate Video.
The Telangana State Minister Shri V Srinivas Goud lauded the efforts of the PR industry in building an informed society and congratulated the winners. Celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the PRSI Hyderabad Chapter, the conference hosted interactive and insightful sessions on the theme of 'Emerging Trends in Modern Public Relations'.

UN Names David Attenborough 'Champion Of The Earth'

In honour of David Attenborough's dedication to research, documentation, and advocacy in protecting and restoring nature, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) awarded him prestigious Champions of the Earth Lifetime Achievement Award.
The prestigious award recognises the 95-year-old's commitment to telling stories about the natural world and climate change. Accepting the award, Sir David said the world must take action now to protect nature and the planet. His celebrated documentaries include The Green Planet and A Plastic Ocean.
This Lifetime Achievement Award is given in a historic year for the global environmental community – 2022 marks 50 years since the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm, Sweden.

Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma among Wisden's five 'Cricketers of the Year'

India captain Rohit Sharma and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah have been named among five players in Wisden's 'Cricketers of the Year' in the 2022 edition of the Almanack. Besides the duo, the list also features New Zealand batter Devon Conway, England pacer Ollie Robinson and Proteas women star Dane van Niekerk.
England's Joe Root has been named leading cricketer in the world, while South African women's team batter Lizelle Lee has been awarded with the title of leading woman cricketer. Besides, Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has earned the title of leading T20 cricketer in the world.
Root was named leading cricketer of the year after an historic 12 months in which he scored 1,708 Test runs in a calendar year, the third most in history.

Chandigarh Gets Best UT Award, Culture Honours

The CEO, Chandigarh Smart City Ltd, Anindita Mitra, received the best UT award for Chandigarh in the India Smart Cities Award Contest (ISAC), 2020, from Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, at a function in Surat. The best UT award was given on the basis of its performance in the "India Cycles4Change Challenge, Climate Smart Cities Challenge, Streets4People Challenge, TULIP and Data Smart Cities". The ISAC was organised under the Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, for the August 25-February 24 period.
The categories were "project awards, city leadership award, best state/UT award, innovation award, Covid innovation award and city award". Chandigarh participated in the competition and won the award in the culture category for its Capitol Complex project, which had been declared a heritage site by UNESCO.

Indian-American Defence Expert Vivek Lall to Receive Entrepreneur Leadership Award

In recognition of his contribution in the defence sector, Indian-American chief executive of General Atomics Global Corporation Vivek Lall was selected for the prestigious Entrepreneur Leadership Awards by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce. Established in 1968, the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) is the apex bi-lateral Chamber synergising India-US economic engagement.
Lall was selected for the 'Global Leader in Defence and Aviation Sector' award category.
Former US presidents George Bush, Jimmy Carter, Lynden Johnson, Ronald Reagan are some others that have been conferred this honour. Lall was also granted the Grand Cross by His Highness Mahmoud Salah Al Din Assaf from the Royal Order of Banu Assaf in January 2022.

Union Steel Ministry to Host National Metallurgist Award 2021 to Recognise Outstanding Contributi...

The Union Steel Ministry will host National Metallurgist Award 2021 in New Delhi to recognise the outstanding contribution of metallurgists and engineers in the field of iron and steel. The programme will be chaired by the Steel Minister Ram Chandra Prasad Singh. The Steel Ministry has instituted the National Metallurgist Award after extensive deliberations with the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding rationalisation of the awards in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The process of submissions of applications or nominations for the National Metallurgist Award 2021 was initiated during August to September in 2021. The awards will be given under categories like Lifetime Achievement, National Metallurgist, For Research and Development in Iron and Steel Sector and Young Metallurgist.
