Dr. Mahendra Mishra to Receive International Mother Language Award 2023
Dr. Mahendra Kumar Mishra, an eminent linguist and a folklorist from Odisha, was nominated to receive the UNESCO's International Mother Language Award 2023 for his lifetime service for promotion of mother language in India.
He will be conferred this award by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the International Mother Language Institute (IMLI), Dhaka, on February 21.
Dr. Mishra is the first one in India to receive the UNESCO award for mother language promotion. He was the pioneer in promoting the endangered languages in school education using community knowledge. He was also the pioneer in adopting Mother tongue based multilingual education in Odisha adopting ten tribal languages in primary schools. Dr. Mishra is also a well-known folklorist for his work among the indigenous languages.
Dr. Mishra, a member of Language Development Board of Central Sahitya Akademi, is the recipient of Odisha Sahitya Akademi. He was also awarded with a national award for his lifetime achievement in tribal language and culture known as Veer Shankar Shah Raghunath Award. Besides, he has been awarded by Kalevala Institute Finland for his contribution to Kalevala, a national epic of Finland into Odia.

Egyptian President Bestows Global Best M-GOV Awards on IIT Indore Students
Niyati Totala and Neel Kalpeshkumar Parikh of The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore were awarded the prestigious medal by Egyptian President Abel Fattah Al-Sisi.
These students were the creators of the 'Blockbill' app. Blockbill is a blockchain-based receipt generation app that generates digital receipts for all of its users' transactions.
The "M-Gov Award" and the "GovTech Award" are annual awards organised by the UAE government as part of the World Government Summit. These awards are designed to encourage pioneering students, researchers, government agencies & institutions, private sector companies and start-ups to develop innovative solutions using the latest technologies in order to address evolving local and global challenges and explore new opportunities for a better future for humanity.

Amit Shah Presents President's Colour Award to Haryana Police
Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the President's Colour Award to Haryana Police for their outstanding service to the nation.
The state police was bestowed with the prestigious President's Colour Award during a ceremonial function at the Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban in Karnal.
The President of India had approved this award for the Haryana Police for a good track record in commitment to professionalism and high rank in the service of humanity while keeping up its performance and integrity.
The "President's Colour" is bestowed on any armed forces or a police unit, in recognition of exceptional service rendered to the Nation, both in peace and in war.
Maharashtra Bhushan Award for Social Worker Appasaheb Dharmadhikari
The state government named renowned social worker, preacher and reformer Dattatreya alias Appasaheb Dharmadikari for the Maharashtra Bhushan Award for the year 2022.
The Maharashtra Bhushan Award comprises a medal, a citation and Rs. 25 lakh, which will be conferred to Appasaheb at a function later in the year. Appasaheb was honoured with Padma Shri in 2017.

Raja Ram Mohan Roy Award for A.B.K. Prasad
Veteran journalist A. B. K. Prasad was chosen for the prestigious Raja Ram Mohan Roy National Award for Excellence in Journalism-2020, announced the Press Council of India, New Delhi.
Anne Bhavani Koteswara Prasad, popularly known as ABK, has the rare honour of being the editor of all the mainstream journals of Andhra Pradesh during his journalistic career spanning over 75 years. He also served as the Chairman of Official Language Commission from 2004 to 2009 in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh.
