Ben Whishaw Wins Best Leading Actor at BAFTA TV 2023

BAFTA Television Awards 2023, known as the UK's biggest night in TV, took place at London's Royal Festival Hall. The event celebrated the finest offerings of British television.
The hosting duties were assigned to comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan.
Ben Whishaw won the leading actor award and Kate Winslet won the leading actress award.

National Technology Awards 2023

Telangana's Technology Hub, popularly known as T-Hub Foundation, won the 2023 National Technology Award in the Technology Business Incubation category.
The awards were presented by the Union government's Department of Science and Technology at the closing day of the celebrations marking this year's National Technology Week.
T-Hub, said to be the world's largest innovation campus, is a start-up ecosystem facilitating collaboration between start-ups, venture capital firms, corporates, governments, and academia.
The National Technology Awards, organised by the Technology Development Board (TDB), a statutory body of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, aims to acknowledge and reward Indian companies that have successfully commercialised indigenous innovative technologies. These awards, presented under five distinct categories, Main, MSME, Start-up, Tran Translational Research and Technology Business Incubator, provide a platform for the recognition of Indian industries and their technology providers who contribute to the vision of 'Aatma Nirbhar Bharat' by fostering innovation and bringing new ideas to the market.

Musharraf Ali Farooqi Wins the Inaugural Armory Square Prize for Translation

Author and translator Musharraf Ali Farooqi, who translated Siddique Alam's The Kettledrum and Other Stories from Urdu to English, won the inaugural edition of the Armory Square Prize for South Asian Literature in Translation.
The titular story of the collection is about an Adivasi woman who cohabitates with her dead husband, and thematically explores tribal traditions in the 21st century.

Arinze Ifeakandu Wins Dylan Thomas Prize for 'Kaleidoscopic Reflection of Queer Life in Nigeria'

Writer Arinze Ifeakandu won the £20,000 Swansea University Dylan Thomas prize for a "Kaleidoscopic Reflection of Queer Life and Love in Nigeria".
The prize, which recognises literary works by authors aged 39 or under, is one of the most prestigious awards for young writers.
The other shortlisted titles were Limberlost by Robbie Arnott, Seven Steeples by Sara Baume, I'm a Fan by Sheena Patel, Send Nudes by Saba Sams and Bless the Daughter Raised By a Voice in Her Head by Warsan Shire.
The prize was launched in 2006 in honour of esteemed Welsh poet Dylan Thomas to celebrate young writers of poetry, novels, short stories and drama in the English language. This November will mark the 70th anniversary of Thomas's death.

ASI Awarded Lifetime Achievement Award to Jayant Narlikar

Prof Jayant V. Narlikar, eminent astronomer and founder director of the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) in Pune, was presented the first Govind Swarup Lifetime Achievement Award by the Astronomical Society of India (ASI).
The ASI had instituted the award in 2022, as it celebrated its golden jubilee, to recognise eminent Indian astronomers for their contributions in the field of astronomy and astrophysics.

CM Yogi Adityanath Honoured Bharat Ratna Dr. Ambedkar Award

Former President of India Ram Nath Kovind honoured Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with the Bharat Ratna Dr. Ambedkar Award for creating a fear-free Uttar Pradesh.
The award ceremony was organized at Shanmukhananda Auditorium in Mumbai where member of the UP legislative council Lalji Prasad Nirmal received the award on behalf of Yogi Adityanath.
The Bharat Ratna Dr. Ambedkar Award is an annual award presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to society in the areas of education, social welfare, and economics, in the spirit of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was a renowned Indian jurist, economist, social reformer, and politician who played a pivotal role in the drafting of the Indian Constitution and fought for the rights of the oppressed sections of Indian society.
The award was instituted in 1996 by the Government of Maharashtra in honour of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and it is presented every year on his birth anniversary. The award carries a cash prize and a citation and is conferred upon individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the society in the spirit of Dr. Ambedkar's vision of social justice, equality, and human rights.
Recipients of the award include individuals from various fields such as social work, education, politics, law, and literature. The award is considered a prestigious recognition in India, and it is given to those who have worked tirelessly to promote Dr. Ambedkar's ideals of social equality and justice.

President Murmu Confers 8 Kirti Chakras, 29 Shaurya Chakras

President Droupadi Murmu conferred eight Kirti Chakras, including five posthumously, to personnel of the Army and paramilitary and police forces for displaying indomitable courage and extraordinary valour in the line of duty.
Kirti Chakra is India's second-highest peacetime gallantry award.
President Murmu also presented 29 Shaurya Chakras, including five posthumously, to the personnel of the armed forces, Central Armed Police Forces and state/Union Territory police during a defence investiture ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The Shaurya Chakra is India's third-highest peacetime gallantry award after the Ashok Chakra and Kirti Chakra.

Biologist Sathyabhama Das Biju, Chosen for Harvard University's Prestigious Radcliffe Fellowship

Biologist Sathyabhama Das Biju, who is popularly known as 'the Frogman of India', was chosen for Harvard University's prestigious Radcliffe fellowship.
The Delhi University professor is one of the 50 scholars who were awarded the Harvard Radcliffe Institute Fellowship for 2023-24.
Prof. Biju has attracted global attention to amphibians in South Asia through his work spanning three decades during which he discovered over a hundred species.
As a Hardy Fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study (or Harvard Radcliffe Institute) at Harvard University, he will "expedite efforts to outpace nameless extinctions in India's amphibian hotspots through discovery and documentation of species and identification of key biodiversity areas for conservation prioritisation.
