World Sports Journalists Day

World Sports Journalists Day is observed globally on 2nd July every year. The day aims to acknowledge the work of sports journalists & to encourage them to do better at their work. Sports journalists help millions of people in the world to receive information on various sports. This professional has helped in the development of many kinds of games all over the world. These journalists have their associations to maintain their standards in their profession. It was found all over the world and united by the International Sports Press Association.
World Sports Journalist Day was established by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) in 1994 to mark the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the organization. AIPS was formed on July 2 of 1924, during the Summer Olympics in Paris.

World UFO Day

World UFO Day is observed and celebrated on 2nd July every year to raise awareness about Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and alien life forms. The day aims to discuss and educate people about UFOs, flying saucers, and sightings of bright blue light in the sky that make headlines across the world.
Some countries mark World UFO Day on 24th June; it was on this date that pilot Kenneth Arnold reported a UFO sighting for the first time in the United States (US). While others celebrate this special day on 2 July as it is the day when the Roswell UFO crash incident took place in 1947.
This day is widely celebrated by UFO enthusiasts who look for 'undisputed evidence' claiming UFOs are real, or to make a case for their existence.

National Doctors' Day

National Doctors' Day was established by the Government of India back in 1991 in honour of the birth and death anniversary of the physician and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. Since then, July 1 in India is marked as National Doctor's Day to show gratitude to all doctors.
The day is observed on different dates across the world. In the United States, Doctor's Day is observed on March 30, in Cuba on December 3 and in Iran on August 23.

Chartered Accountants' Day (India)

Chartered Accountants' Day is celebrated on July 1. This year (2021) the 73rd Chartered Accountants' Day is celebrated. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) was established on 1 July 1949 by an act of parliament. ICAI is the second largest accounting body in the world, after the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). In this article, we are going to learn about history.

Canada Day

Canada Day is the national day of Canada. A federal statutory holiday, it celebrates the anniversary of Canadian Confederation which occurred on July 1, 1867, with the passing of the Constitution Act, 1867 where the three separate colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick were united into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada. Originally called Dominion Day, the holiday was renamed in 1982 when the Canadian Constitution was patriated by the Canada Act 1982. Canada Day celebrations take place throughout the country, as well as in various locations around the world attended by Canadians living abroad.

World Asteroid Day

Asteroid Day is an annual global event which is held on the anniversary of the Siberian Tunguska event, which is considered by some to be the most harmful known asteroid-related event on Earth in recent history. The United Nations proclaimed it be observed globally on June 30 every year in its resolution. Asteroid Day aims to raise awareness about asteroids and what can be done to protect the Earth, its families, communities, and future generations from a catastrophic event.
Asteroid Day was co-founded by Stephen Hawking, filmmaker Grigorij Richters, B612 Foundation President, Danica Remy, Apollo 9 astronaut Rusty Schweickart and Brian May, Queen guitarist and astrophysicist.

International Day of Parliamentarism

The International Day of Parliamentarism is celebrated every year on 30 June, the date in 1889 on which the IPU was founded. The Day was established in 2018 through a United Nations General Assembly Resolution.
Instituting an international day for parliaments is particularly important at this critical time for parliamentary democracy, when people are losing trust in political institutions and democracy itself is facing challenges from populist and nationalist movements. If democracy is to thrive, then parliaments, as the cornerstone of functioning democracies, need to be strong, transparent, accountable and representative.
The International Day of Parliamentarism is a time to review the progress that parliaments have made in achieving some key goals to be more representative and move with the times, including carrying out self-assessments, working to include more women and young MPs, and adapting to new technologies.
The United Nations General Assembly, in its resolution A/RES/72/278, recognized the role of parliaments in national plans and strategies and in ensuring greater transparency and accountability at national and global levels.

National Statistics Day

The government of India celebrates National Statistics Day on 29th June on the birth anniversary of Prof. P. C. Mahalanobis. The Day is celebrated to create awareness among youth about the role of statistics in socio-economic planning and policy formulation. The Day to popularise the use of statistics in everyday life and sensitise the public as to how Statistics helps in shaping and framing policies.
End Hunger, Achieve Food Security and Improved Nutrition and Promote Sustainable Agriculture (Sustainable Development Goal or SDG 2 of the UN) is the theme of this year's National Statistics Day.
National Statistics Day was first celebrated on 29th June 2007. The Government of India decided to celebrate the outstanding contribution made by Late Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis in the field of economic planning and statistical development and hence mark his birth anniversary as 'National Statistics Day.

International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

June 26 every year is observed as International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking or World Drug Day to create awareness about issues related to drugs and seek international cooperation to combat its effects on health, society, and governance.
The day June 26 was chosen by the UN General Assembly, on December 7, 1987, as International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking by its resolution 42/112. The assembly made the decision to observe this day as an expression of its resolution to make international society free of drug abuse.
This year, the theme is 'Share Facts On Drugs, Save Lives'. According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the motive is to combat misinformation by sharing real facts on drugs — from health risks and solutions for the world drug problem to evidence-based prevention, treatment, and care.

G20 Education Ministers Meet

The Minister of State for Education Shri Sanjay Dhotre participated in the G20 Education Ministers' Meeting in June 2021. The meeting was hosted in blended mode by Italy. G20 Education Ministers exchanged views on how to progress on the fight against educational poverty and inequalities, especially in context of the Covid 19 pandemic. The ministers also resolved to share innovative experiences implemented during the pandemic to ensure the continuity and quality of learning pathways through blended education.
