National Tourism Day 2022

  • National Tourism Day is celebrated across the country on January 25 every year to appreciate India's beauty and spread awareness about the importance of tourism and its impact on the economy. The ministry of tourism observed National Tourism Day 2022 under the aegis of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', a 75-week grand celebration to mark 75 years of India's independence. The theme for National Tourism Day 2022 was 'Rural and Community Centric Tourism'.

Himachal Pradesh Celebrates its Golden Jubilee Statehood Day

  •  PM Modi greeted people of Himachal Pradesh on its statehood day on January 25.
  • On December 18, 1970, the state of Himachal Pradesh Act was passed by Parliament, and the news state came into being on January 25, 1971.
  • Himachal Pradesh became the 18th state of the Indian Union with Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar as its first Chief Minister.

National Voters' Day

  • The National Voters' Day is celebrated every year on January 25 to encourage the country's voters to participate in the electoral process. The year 2022 saw the 12th edition of National Voters' Day.
  • The first-ever National Voters' Day was celebrated on January 25, 2011, to encourage more young voters to take part in the electoral process. The Union Government, then led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, approved a proposal of the law ministry to this effect.
  • The theme for 2022 National Voters' Day was 'Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative'.
  • Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju was the Guest of Honour. During the event, National Awards for the Best Electoral Practises for the year 2021-22 were given to state and district level officers for their outstanding performance in the conduct of elections in different areas.

International Day of Education

  • The International Day of Education is annually celebrated on January 24. The year 2022 marked the fourth year of celebration, with the theme 'Changing Course, Transforming Education'.
  • The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in December, 2018 proclaimed the celebration of this day to mark the importance of education in ensuring peace and development. The resolution to mark this International Day of Education was authored by 59 member states. This demonstrated the unwavering political will to support transformative actions for inclusive, equitable and quality education for all.

Bhupender Yadav Attends 4th Asian Ministerial Conference on Tiger Conservation

  • The 4th Asian Ministerial Conference on Tiger conservation was held in hybrid organized by the Government of Malaysia and coordinated by Global Tiger Forum (GTF).
  • India was represented by Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, Ministry for Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

National Girl Child Day

  • Every year India celebrates National Girl Child Day on January 24. In 2008, the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, decided to celebrate this day to offer support and opportunities to the girl child in India.
  • National Girl Child Day is an initiative by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. It was announced in the year 2008. The day is aimed to spread awareness and empower girls from all around the country. The day is celebrated with multiple programs including awareness campaigns about Save the Girl Child, child sex ratios, and the creation of a healthy and safe environment for girls.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti

  • Netaji Jayanti, also known as "Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti" or officially "Parakram Divas" or "Parakram Diwas" (Day of Valour), is a national event celebrated in India to mark the birthday of a prominent Indian freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. It is celebrated annually on January 23. He played a pivotal role in Indian independence movement. He was the head of Japanese-supported Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fouj). He was the founder-head of the Azad Hind Government.
  • He also formed a woman battalion named Rani Jhansi regiment.

NDRF Celebrates Raising Day

  • National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) celebrates its Raising Day every year on January 19, since it came into existence on January 19, 2006. In 2022, the NDRF observed its 17th Raising Day. There are 12 NDRF battalions located in different parts of the country and comprises as many as 13,000 NDRF personnel who work to build a safer country.
  • The NDRF has earned a good name and fame nationally and internationally with its selfless service and unmatched professionalism in disaster management. NDRF has saved more than one lakh lives in its 3100 operations and rescued/evacuated over 6.7 lakh people during disasters. NDRF is an Indian specialized force under the National Disaster Management Authority, constituted under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, to carry out the special responses in situations of threatening disaster.
