International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer
September 16 marks the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. In 1987, representatives from 24 countries met in Canada's Montreal to discuss the alarming situation of depleting the Ozone layer. The countries agreed on the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, calling for the world to get rid of the substances that cause Ozone depletion. In December 1994, the United Nations General Assembly designated September 16 International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. The world celebrated the first International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer on September 16th, 1995.
The theme announced by the UN Environment Programme for International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer 2022 was 'Global Cooperation Protecting Life on Earth.'

Engineer's Day in India
Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya's birthday on September 15 is celebrated as Engineers' Day in India. M. Visvesvaraya contributed significantly to the field of engineering and education. He is considered among the greatest nation-builders who played a crucial role in constructing dams, reservoirs and hydro-power projects of modern India. M. Visvesvaraya oversaw the construction of several architectural marvels as chief engineer, including the Krishna Raja Sagar dam in Karnataka and the flood protection system of Hyderabad.
In 1968, the Indian government declared M. Visvesvaraya's birth anniversary as Engineers' Day. Since then, this day is celebrated to honour and acknowledge all engineers who have contributed and still do so to build a modern and developed India.
M. Visvesvaraya received the Bharat Ratna in 1955 and was also conferred the British knighthood. He served as Diwan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918. On Engineer's Day, the nation pays tribute to M. Visvesvaraya.
International Day of Democracy
The International Day of Democracy is celebrated on September 15 each year to promote and uphold the principles of democracy in every country. Notably, the day was established through a resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly (UNSC) in 2007 in a bid to encourage governments to strengthen and consolidate democracy. In addition to that, this day also provides an opportunity to review the state of democracy in the world and further educate people on the importance of democracy and reinstall the realisation of human rights.
Every year, events are organised based on an individual theme. The theme for International Day of Democracy 2022 was "the importance of media freedom to democracy, peace, and delivering on the sustainable development goals".

Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on September 14.
Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year to commemorate the adoption of Hindi in the Devanagari script as one of the official languages of the nation. The language was adopted by the National Constitution on September 14, 1949 and it became the official language of the country.
The day also marks celebrating the birthday of Beohar Rajendra Simha who played a crucial role in getting Hindi in Devanagari script approved as an official language of India. He was born on September 14, 1916.

World Suicide Prevention Day
World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) is an awareness day observed on September 10 every year, in order to provide worldwide commitment and action to prevent suicides, with various activities around the world since 2003. The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) collaborates with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) to host World Suicide Prevention Day.
Each year World Suicide Prevention Day has a theme and the theme for World Suicide Prevention Day 2022 was 'Creating Hope Through Action.'
World First Aid Day
World First Aid Day is celebrated every year on the second Saturday of September. World First Aid Day 2022 fell on September 10, 2022. The day was recognised worldwide to promote the significance of first aid, which is an important fundamental skill, and to create awareness on a global level about how it can save precious lives. The day was introduced first by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
World First Aid Day 2022 was celebrated under the theme 'Lifelong First Aid'.
