World Postal Day

World Post Day is observed every year on October 9 to mark the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and the creation of the revolutionary mode of communication with letters in the everyday lives of the people. Before the age of e-mails, letters used to be handwritten and delivered by post across the world. Even today, postal services hold a significant role in the delivery of parcels globally.
World Post Day is celebrated in remembrance of the foundation of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in Bern, Switzerland. Celebrated across 151 countries, it was first declared as the World Post Day by the UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan, in 1969.
The theme for 2022 World Post Day was "Post for Planet."

Indian Air Force Day

Every October 8, Indian Air Force Day is celebrated to pay a tribute to the Air Force of India and acknowledge the excellence the country has presented in the field. Founded on October 8, 1932, the force has been a part of several landmark missions that have led to the success of the nation. These historic air force battles have also built the reputation of India as a country that is strong on the battlefield and possesses the force required to protect its nation.
The theme for Indian Air Force Day 2022 was "Touching the Sky with Glory."

World Cotton Day

Cotton is grown in more than 75 countries across five continents and is traded worldwide. Highlighting the importance of this global commodity in generating jobs and maintaining economic stability in less developed countries, the United Nations General Assembly declared October 7 as World Cotton Day in 2021.
The year 2022 was the second year the day celebrated with the aim to foster sustainable trade policies and help developing countries benefit from the cotton value chain.
Four cotton-producing countries Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mali were the first to propose a World Cotton Day celebration on October 7 to the World trade Organisation in 2019.

World Teachers' Day

World Teachers' Day or International Teachers' Day is observed since 1994 on October 5. The day honours teachers for their contribution towards students.
Established in 1994, it commemorates the signing of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which is a standard-setting instrument that addresses the status and situations of teachers around the world.
The theme for World Teachers' Day 2022 was "The transformation of education begins with teachers".

World Space Week, 4-10 October

World Space Week (WSW) is observed every year from October 4 to 10, to celebrate science and technology, and their contribution towards the betterment of the human condition. World Space Week aims to help people gain a wider knowledge about space outreach and education.
In 1999, the United Nations General Assembly declared October 4-10 to be celebrated as World Space Week. These dates were not randomly selected. October 4 marks the launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1. When Sputnik 1 was launched into orbit in 1957, it opened the scope for space exploration. A decade later, on October 10, 1967, the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies, was signed.
The World Space Week 2022 theme is "Space and Sustainability" focusing on achieving sustainability in space and achieving sustainability from space.

World Animal Day

World Animal Day is observed every year on October 4, the feast day of Francis of Assisi, who was regarded as the patron saint of animals. The day was celebrated for the first time in 1925 by cynologist Heinrich Zimmermann to address the plight of animals and initiate work towards their protection -- both in the wild and domestic world.
World Animal Day, was originated by cynologist Heinrich Zimmermann. He organized the first World Animal Day on March 24, 1925, at the Sport Palace in Berlin, Germany. Over 5,000 people attended this first event. The activity was originally scheduled for October 4, to align with the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of ecology. However, the venue was not available on that day. The event was then moved to October 4 for the first time in 1929. Every year, Zimmermann worked tirelessly on the promotion of World Animal Day. Finally, in May 1931 at a congress of the International Animal Protection Congress in Florence Italy, his proposal to make October 4 World Animal Day universal was unanimously accepted and adopted as a resolution.
World Wildlife Day 2022 was observed under the theme "Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration".
