Pochampally Makes it to List of Best Tourism Villages in the World
Pochampally village from Telangana was selected as one of the Best Tourism Villages by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO). The prestigious award will be presented during the 24th session of the UNWTO General Assembly on December 2, 2021 in Madrid, Spain. In July early this year, Ramappa Temple from Mulugu district bagged the UNESCO's 'World Heritage Site' tag.
Pochampally, which is 50 km from Hyderabad, is a town in Yadadri district. It is popularly known as the 'Silk city of India' for the exquisite sarees that are woven through a unique style called Ikat.
This style, Pochampally Ikat, received a Geographical Indicator (GI Status) in 2004. Ikat involves the process of wrapping (or tying) and dyeing sections of bundled yarn to a predetermined colour pattern before they are woven. The dye penetrates into exposed sections while the wrapped section remains undyed. This pattern formed by the yarn in this process is woven into fabric.

Bhadrachalam Added as a Destination in IRCTC's Ramayana Circuit Train
Bhadrachalam in Telangana was added as a destination in the IRCTC's Ramayana Circuit train. Union Minister for Culture and Tourism G. Kishan Reddy has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inclusion of Bhadrachalam as one of the destinations in the Ramayana Circuit of the Pilgrim Special Train. Bhadrachalam is home to Sree Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple.
The aim of the Ramayana Yatra Train is to connect all the important locations of Lord Rama's journey during his lifetime, the inclusion of Bhadrachalam Road Station will complete the Ramayana Circuit.

IRCTC Plans Shri Ramayana Yatra Train Tours to Promote Religious Tourism
To promote religious tourism, the IRCTC has planned a series of Shri Ramayana Yatra Tours, which will mark a gradual resumption of domestic tourism by trains in view of the improved COVID-19 situation.
The first departure on the Ramayana Circuit train commenced on November 7 from New Delhi followed by four other departures in the subsequent month.
To meet the requirement of the pilgrim tourist market of south India, IRCTC will be operating Shri Ramayana Yatra Express-Madurai with its budget-segment train comprising of sleeper class coaches.

London's Famous Tower Bridge Wins Gold in England Tourism Awards
London's iconic Tower Bridge has won a coveted gold accolade in Visit England's excellence awards.
The exhibition at the bridge over the River Thames gives tourists the chance to experience panoramic views of London from a high-level walkway with a glass floor, as well as visit the drawbridge's Victorian engine room, reports Xinhua news agency.
The tourist attraction was one of 26 gold winners in Visit England's 2021 awards, which also give accolades for hidden gems, the best-told stories, quality of welcome and food quality.
The awards are based on the scores gained by tourist attractions in their annual assessments by VisitEngland, which were nevertheless delayed this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
