Kerala village Aymanam on List of 30 Best Places to Visit in 2022
Aymanam, a quaint village in Kerala made it to the Condé Nast's list of 30 best places to visit in the world in 2022.
Featured alongside locations in countries like US, Sri Lanka, Qatar, Singapore, Japan and Egypt on the list, Aymanam's tourism initiatives were awarded in 2021 for its focus on boosting local employment and nature conservation. Other places in India that made it to the list were Bhimtal, Sikkim, Odisha, Goa, Kolkata among others.
Travellers to Aymanam can experience bird-watching, long walks through paddy fields, visit temples and churches, taste rich coconut-preparations, hop on boat rides and watch performances of Kathakali and martial artform Kalaripayattu.
The village, located on the idyllic backwaters in Kottayam district, has Lake Vembanad to its west and is also bordered by the Meenachil River.

Yatra.com Partners Cleartrip to Offer Wider Hotel Inventory to Customers
Online travel company Yatra Online announced its partnership with Cleartrip, owned by the Flipkart Group, to offer a wider hotel inventory to its customers.
This strategic association between Yatra and Cleartrip, both leading brands in the online travel space in India, aims to provide a boost to the entire hospitality and travel ecosystem and uplift the sentiments of both customers as well as suppliers for hospitality as the industry emerge out of the pandemic.
Under this agreement, Cleartrip customers will now have access to Yatra.com's inventory of 94,000 hotels and homestays in over 1,400 cities and towns.

Surat to Get India's 1st Bullet Train Station by Dec 2024
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project will be India's first bullet train route. While Surat city will get India's first bullet train station. National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) is constructing this project that is scheduled to be completed by December 2024. The cost of the project is estimated to be more than Rs. 1 lakh crore of which Rs. 88,000 crores will be funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Of the 508.17-kilometre Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, 155.76 km is in Maharashtra, 384.04 km in Gujarat and 4.3 km in Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

Westin Hotels and Resorts Launches Wellness Campaign with Kareena Kapoor Khan
Westin Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott Bonvoy's portfolio of 30 hotel brands, announced the launch of the wellness-focused "Let's Rise" campaign for travellers to regain control and enhance their own well-being when they travel.
With use of the line "We are all risers", the new campaign speaks about a community of achievers and reinforces the brand's commitment to guests' holistic sense of well-being, the company said. The hotel company created a video featuring its new brand ambassador for India Bollywood actress, Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Last week, Marriott Bonvoy, the parent company's travel programme announced a collaboration Arjuna Award winning golfer Shiv Kapur through a multi-faceted contract as a Marriott Bonvoy ambassador. The programme also has a tie up with sports team Mumbai Indians.

Odisha Light House Tourism
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is to develop five light houses in the state of Odisha. Four districts were identified.
The Light Houses are to be built in Public – Private Partnership mode. The identified districts are: Gopalpur lighthouse in Ganjam, Paradip lighthouse in Jagatsinghpur, False point lighthouse in Kendrapara, Chandrabhaga lighthouse in Puri and Puri lighthouse.
India had identified 71 lighthouses to increase lighthouse tourism. The plan is to build open air theatre, cafeteria, museum, children's park, landscaping and eco – friendly cottages in these light houses.
The Odisha Light house tourism being developed is a part of Marine aids to Navigation 2021. Under the aid, the development was to be brought in the states of Gujarat, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The aid will help develop the lighthouses into tourism destinations. It will preserve the historical and traditional values of the lighthouses.
