Patty Mills to be first Indigenous Australian to carry flag at Games
NBA Championship winner Patty Mills will become the first Indigenous Australian to carry the country's flag at an Olympic Games opening ceremony.
The 32-year-old San Antonio Spurs point guard will be Australia's flag-bearer at Tokyo 2020 alongside two-time swimming gold medallist Cate Campbell.
Mills said the honour was "a passionate moment I can feel in my bones".

Euro 2020 final
Italy lifted their second European Championship trophy after they defeated England 3-2 in penalty shoot-out in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium in London. The match had ended 1-1 after extra time. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Bukayo Saka missed for the Three Lions as Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma saved two penalties in a row to take his team to the title.
This is the first major international trophy that Italy have won since their 2006 FIFA World Cup win. The Azzurri had last won the continental title back in 1968. Italy had reached the final in Euro 2000 and Euro 2012, as well, but had lost to France, and Spain, respectively.
England were eyeing their first European Championship trophy and their first major international football title since winning the FIFA World Cup at home in 1966.
Wimbledon 2021
Novak Djokovic beat Matteo Berrettini in four sets to win the Wimbledon men's singles title for the sixth time in his career. This is the Serbian's 20th career grand slam title, which puts him level with his long time rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the list of all time highest slam winners in men's tennis.
Djokovic has now won 20 grand slams titles and has finished runner-up in 10. His first grand slam title came in 2008, when he beat France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to win the Australian Open title.
He has won 9 Australian Open titles, 2 French Open titles, 6 Wimbledon titles and 3 US Open titles. He has won the season ending ATP Tour Finals five times.
Copa America 2021
Argentina won its first major title in 28 years when an Angel Di Maria goal gave the side a 1-0 win over Brazil and a record-equalling 15th Copa America trophy.
Di Maria started for just the second time in the Copa, and he justified his selection by scoring the opener midway through the first half. Renan Lodi failed to cut out a long ball forward from Rodrigo De Paul and Di Maria lobbed the stranded Ederson with aplomb.

Indian Grandmaster Nihal Sarin Wins Serbia Open Chess Title in Belgrade
Young Indian Grandmaster Nihal Sarin emerged champion in the Masters' section of the Serbia Open Chess Championship in Belgrade.
This is the second consecutive tournament victory for sixteen-year old Sarin after he claimed the title in Silver Lake Open.
The GM from Thrissur, Kerala, played out a draw with GM Vladimir Fedoseev of Russia to finish with 7.5 points out of a possible nine to finish clear first in the 289-player field in the nine-round tourney.
Sarin, who became a Grandmaster in 2018 at the age of 14, won six games and drew three, to remain unbeaten. Sarin, who started the Serbia Open with wins in the first two rounds, ended the tournament with three successive wins and a draw in the final round, finishing a clear half point ahead of the field.
Udayan Mane: 2nd Indian golfer to Qualify for Tokyo Olympics
Indian golfer, Udayan Mane, has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 which is scheduled to be organised in July & August 2021.
Udayan Mane has become 2nd Indian golfer to qualify for Tokyo Olympics.
He joined Anirban Lahiri in 60-player field in men's golf event.
Lahiri will be appearing at his second consecutive Olympic Games. He had also represented India at Rio 2016 Olympics along with SSP Chawrasia.
He is an Indian professional golfer. He is currently the second-highest ranked Indian in World at number 356. He plays on Asian Tour and PGA Tour. He made the cut for his maiden Olympics after withdrawal of Argentina's Emiliano Grillo from quadrennial event. He qualified for Tokyo on the basis of being first reserve against Grillo's name.

Mumbai, Pune to Host 2022 Women's Asian Cup
Women's Asian Cup in India will be held in Mumbai and Pune after the Asian Football Confederation dropped Bhubaneswar and Ahemdabad as venues to minimise the travelling time for participants and ensure an "optimum environment" for a bio-secure bubble. The Mumbai Football Arena at the Andheri Sports Complex and the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune have been chosen as the new venues.
The decision was taken after considering the existing challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and as part of efforts to minimise the travelling time for teams and officials between the venues, whilst ensuring the optimum environment to implement the biomedical bubble for the benefit of all stakeholders.
Ten Indian Para Shooters Qualify for Tokyo Paralympics
Indian para shooters, including two women, have booked an unprecedented 10 quota places for the Tokyo Paralympics beginning August 24.
The shooters were picked during a selection committee meeting.
"This is the first time that 10 shooters have been able to achieve the required benchmark for the qualification. Till the Tokyo Paralympics, only one quota of shooter could be achieved but this time shooters grabbed 10 quotas," a release from the Paralympic Committee of India said.

Mirza-Bopanna Ousted from Wimbledon Championships
Rohan Bopanna stayed solid with his service games and net play but Sania Mirza's serve was consistently put under pressure as the Indian team was ousted from the Wimbledon Championships following a three-set defeat in the stop-start mixed doubles third round.
The contest resumed with the 14th seed pair of Jean Julien-Roger and Andreja Klepac having a one-set lead and they finished on the right side of the result with a 6-3 3-6 11-9 scoreline.
Mirza has not played much competitive tennis post her comeback and is struggling to get her serve right.
