Turkey, Azerbaijan Begin Joint Military Drills in Baku

Turkey and Azerbaijan have begun joint military drills "Mustafa Kemal Ataturk – 2021" in Baku, deploying tanks, helicopters and drones in an effort to improve the two countries' combat interoperability. The exercises involve up to 600 personnel in an effort to improve the allies' combat interoperability.
The main purpose of the exercises is to improve the interaction between the two countries' army units during combat operations, to develop the commanders' military decision-making skills and their ability to manage military units.

DRDO Flight Test New-Gen Nuclear Capable Ballistic Missile Agni P

A new generation nuclear capable ballistic missile Agni-P (Prime) was successfully test-fired by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
Agni-P is a new generation advanced variant of Agni class of missiles. It is a canisterised missile with range capability between 1,000 and 2,000 km.
Various telemetry and radar stations positioned along the eastern coast tracked and monitored the missile. The missile followed text book trajectory, meeting all mission objectives with high level of accuracy.

Indian Navy Conducts Military Drill with South Korean Ship in East China Sea

An Indian Navy warship carried out a drill with a South Korean vessel within the East China Sea amid China"s rising assertiveness within the area.
They mentioned the partnership train was geared toward enhancing interoperability and facilitating the alternate of finest practices between the 2 navies.
"Indian Navy's indigenous ASW Corvette INS Kiltan deployed within the Far East undertook Navy Partnership Train in East China Sea with Republic of Korea"s Ship ROKS Gyeongnam, a Daegu-class frigate.

Ukraine, United States to Start Black Sea Military Drills

Ukraine and the United States started a military exercise involving more than 30 countries in the Black Sea and southern Ukraine, despite Russian calls to cancel the drills. Sea Breeze 2021 follows a rise in tensions between NATO and Moscow, which said last week it had fired warning shots and dropped bombs in the path of a British warship to chase it out of Black Sea waters off the coast of Crimea. Britain rejected Russia's account of the incident.
Russia annexed Crimea in 2014 and says it is Russian territory, but the peninsula is internationally recognised as part of Ukraine.
Sea Breeze 2021 will last two weeks and involve about 5,000 military personnel from NATO and other allies, and around 30 ships and 40 aircraft. U.S. missile destroyer USS Ross and the U.S. Marine Corps will take part.

South Korea to Develop 'Iron Dome' Style Defence System

South Korea approved plans to pursue a $2.6-billion artillery interception system, similar to Israel's "Iron Dome", designed to protect against North Korea's arsenal of long-range guns and rockets.
Late last year the government's defence blueprint called for the development of a "Korean-style Iron Dome" that can defend Seoul and key facilities.
Through this project, it is expected that the ability to respond to the threat of enemy long-range artillery will be strengthened, as well as securing domestic technology and creating domestic jobs.

DRDO Successfully Test-fires Pinaka, 122 mm Caliber Rockets

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test fired enhanced range versions of indigenously developed 122 mm Caliber rocket and extended range version of Pinaka rocket from a Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher (MBRL) at Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.
Twenty-five enhanced Pinaka Rockets were launched in quick succession against targets at different ranges. All the mission objectives were met during the launches. The enhanced range version of Pinaka rocket system can destroy targets at distances up to 45 km.

India Successfully Test Fires Subsonic Cruise Missile Nirbhay

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired the subsonic cruise missile 'Nirbhay' in June 2021, from an Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha's Balasore. This was the eighth test flight of the missile. The first test flight of Nirbhay was held on 12 March 2013.
Nirbhay is a long-range, all-weather, subsonic cruise missile indigenously designed and developed by DRDO.
The missile can be launched from multiple platforms and is capable of carrying conventional and nuclear warheads.
Nirbhay is a two-stage missile and can engage several targets in a single flight.
The missile has a length of 6 metres, a width of 0.52 metres, a wingspan of 2.7 metres and weighs about 1500 kg.
It has a strike range of about 1500 km.

Indian Army Plans to Buy 1,750 Futuristic Infantry Combat Vehicles

Indian Army issued the Request for Information (RFI) to finalise the specifications for acquiring 1,750 Futuristic Infantry Combat Vehicles (FICVs) under the Make in India initiative to destroy enemy tanks and carry troops.
The Indian Army wants to deploy the vehicles in places like Eastern Ladakh along with desert and amphibious terrain.
The FICV project has been in plans for a long time and the need for a modern troops carrier equipped with tank-busting capabilities was felt during the recent Ladakh conflict.

Indian Navy's Sahyadri Getsn 'Best Ship' Title at Fleet Awards

INS Sahyadri has been adjudged the best ship of the Eastern Fleet among capital ships, INS Kamorta has received the title of the most spirited ship. INS Kiltan and INS Khukri won the best corvette trophy amongst corvettes and similar classes of ships.
Fleet Awards Function 2021 was held to mark the culmination of the Operational Cycle of the Eastern Fleet and to recognise accomplishments of the 'Sword Arm' of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC). Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief ENC Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh was the chief guest at the event.
