Indian Army-IAF Carry Out Aerial Insertion, Water Parachute Jumps Exercise in Himachal
The special forces of the Indian Army and Air Force jointly validated the aerial insertion and deployment of special forces operatives through water parachute jumps as a part of an ongoing two-day exercise in Himachal Pradesh (HP). In the exercise at Gobind Sagar Reservoir in HP, the joint forces practised aerial insertion and the capability to land on water for rapid response in hostile territory. Furthermore, the joint operation fine-tuned the specific drills and procedures to enhance their skills in various conflict scenarios and terrains.
Short-range Ballistic Missile Prithvi-II Successfully Tested from Odisha
India successfully carried out the night launch of Prithvi-II short range ballistic missile from an integrated test range in Odisha.
The test validated all operational and technical parameters of the missile.
The missile is a proven system and is capable of striking targets with a very high degree of precision.

38th India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol Conducted in Andaman Sea
The 38th India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT) between the Indian Navy Units of Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) and Indonesian Navy was conducted in the Andaman Sea and Straits of Malacca. The 38th CORPAT is the first post pandemic Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) between the two countries.
The two Navies have been carrying out CORPAT along their International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) since 2002. This has helped build understanding and interoperability between both the Navies and has facilitated measures to prevent and suppress Illegal Unreported Unregulated (IUU) fishing, drug trafficking, maritime terrorism, armed robbery and piracy, etc. The IND-INDO CORPAT contributes towards forging strong bonds of friendship across the Andaman Sea and Straits of Malacca.

India Hands over 12 High-speed Guard Boats to Vietnam
India formally handed over the 12 high-speed guard boats constructed under the government of India's $100 million defence Line of Credit (LoC) to Vietnam at a ceremony at Hong Ha Shipyard during the visit of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to the South East Asian nation.
The speed boats will be operated by the Vietnamese Border Guard Force. The deal was executed by Larsen & Tourbo and of the 12 boats, five were built in India while the remaining were built in Vietnam with assistance from L&T.
Hanoi has procured the 12 high-speed patrol boats for the Vietnamese border guard force under the LoC extended in September 2014. In 2016, India has extended another $500 million defence LoC to Vietnam and discussions are under way to identify the equipment. During the bilateral talks, the two Defence Ministers had agreed for "early finalisation" of the second LoC.

Defence Minister Increases Funding for the DRDO's TDF Scheme
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh authorised an increase in financing for MSMEs and start-ups under the Ministry of Defence's Technology Development Fund (TDF) plan. The initiative, which encourages the development of indigenous components, products, systems, and technologies, will now have a maximum project value of Rs. 50 crore, up from Rs. 10 crore previously. The increased funding is in accordance with the budget announcement and will help the government achieve its goal of self-reliance in the defence sector, according to the defence ministry.
According to the scheme's provisions, the financial assistance is delivered in the form of grants-in-aid to the industry. Projects with a cost of up to Rs. 50 crore will now be evaluated for funding, but only up to 90% of the total project cost would be funded. The project is also confined to the creation of technologies or prototypes of products that may be used by the military, with a typical development duration of two years, according to the strategy.
Ex Khaan Quest 2022 Peacekeeping Exercise
Ex Khaan Quest 2022 a multinational peacekeeping exercise commenced in Mongolia. It will continue for 14 days. The exercise features participation of military contingents from 16 countries, including India. It was inaugurated by President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh. Indian Army is being represented by contingent from the Ladakh Scouts.
The Ex Khaan-Quest 2022 aims to enhance interoperability, build military to military relationships, military readiness and develop peace support operations among participating nations. This exercise will enhance the level of defence co-operation between these countries. It is a multinational peacekeeping operations exercise. It comprises of a United Nations Peacekeeping Mission command post exercise, which is a UN Peacekeeping Operation Mission field training exercise. This exercise has been designed for improving peacekeeping capabilities, enhancing core UN doctrine Peace Keeping Operation capabilities of participating countries, and strengthening military-to-military relationships.

In a First, ITBP Introduces Heli-borne Operations for Women Personnel
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) introduced heli-borne slithering operations for its women personnel under commando training. The first such batch demonstrated their newly-acquired skill at the force's Basic Training Center (BTC) in Bhanu near Chandigarh.
Slithering is tactic used for rapid induction and deployment of troops during operations in remote areas or difficult terrain by means of sliding down a rope fixed to a helicopter hovering several meters above the ground.
"This is for the first time that women personnel were trained in slithering operations as part of their pre-promotion course.
Govt. Amends Rules of Defence Forces for Appointment of Next CDS
The Ministry of Defence issued gazette notifications to amend regulations of three defence forces – Army, Navy and Air Force -- related to the appointment of the Chief of Defence Staff, a post that remains vacant since the death of General Bipin Rawat in a helicopter crash in December in 2021.
According to the notification issued for the Air Force, the government may consider an officer who is serving as Air Marshal or Air Chief Marshal or an officer who has retired in the similar ranks but has not attained the age of 62 years on the date of appointment. It said the considerations would be made "if considered necessary, in public interest."
