EX Khaan Quest - 2022 Multinational Peacekeeping Exercise Concludes
The Multinational Peacekeeping Exercise Ex Khaan Quest 2022 culminated at the Peace Support Operations Training Centre at Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia.
This exercise provided a platform for mutual learning and sharing best practices amongst the armies from 16 nations. The Indian contingent consisting of personnel from the LADAKH SCOUTS participated in the field training as well as the Command Post exercise. A number of training activities were organised during the course of the exercise.

Indian Coast Guard Inducts Advanced Light Helicopter Mk-III in Chennai
The Indian Coast Guard Region (East) inducted the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Mark-III, indigenously developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), in Chennai.
The ALH will be the first aircraft of the newly created "840 Squadron" that will be stationed in Chennai and will be the first ALH MK-III to be positioned in the Coast Guard Region East.
The aircraft was received at Coast Guard Air Station, Chennai, with a traditional water cannon salute. Inspector General A.P. Badola, Commander Coast Guard Region East, welcomed the aircraft and crew. Three more ALHs will be added to the squadron shortly.
Indian Women Soldiers Participate in 'Women Peace and Security Seminar' in Mongolia
Women soldiers of the Indian Army participated in the four-day 'Women Peace and Security Seminar' at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The four-day event was held under the auspices of Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh.
The Mongolian President said that the country will bolster the participation of women in the United Nations peacekeeping operations.
Khurelsukh made the remarks during the opening ceremony of the international conference of female peacekeepers under the theme of "Women, Peace, and Security".
To promote the UN's goal of full gender parity in peacekeeping operations, Mongolia aims to increase women's participation to at least 15 percent by 2027.
The year 2022 marked the 20th anniversary of the first deployment of Mongolian peacekeepers to UN peacekeeping operations.

India Backs China's Plan for Joint Border Activity
India supported an initiative by China to conduct a "joint border operation" in 2023 of all member countries of SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) that includes Russia, Pakistan and Central Asian countries. The border operation called "Solidarity-2023" will be organised by China.
The BSF hosted the 21st meeting of Experts' Group and Border Security Conference of SCO countries from June 15-17 that was attended by China, Pakistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS)-SCO.

China Launches Third Aircraft Carrier in Major Military Milestone
China launched its third aircraft carrier in Shanghai, the first designed and built entirely in the country.
The launch of the new carrier called Fujian, named after the coastal province, comes against the backdrop of China's push for maritime influence in the far seas and as its warships attempt to leave their mark in Pacific and Indian Ocean regions.
Fujian, with the hull number "18", is China's first catapult-type aircraft carrier to launch fighter aircraft from its deck.

Chinese Destroyer on Long-distance Exercises in Sea of Japan
One of China's largest and most capable combat ships is conducting long-distance exercises in the Sea of Japan, in a display of China's increasing naval reach.
The mission was the first for the Type 055 destroyer Lhasa since its commissioning in 2021.
It is accompanied by the Luyang-class Type 052D destroyer Chengdu and the Type 903 oiler Dongpinghu. The Sea of Japan lies to the north of China between the Japanese archipelago, Sakhalin Island, the Korean Peninsula and the Russian Far East mainland.
China's navy has been building ships at a furious pace and now boasts the largest naval force in the world by number of hulls.
