Prabhu Chandra Mishra Honoured with Atal Samman Award

  • Prabhu Chandra Mishra was honoured with the Atal Samman Award (Atal Anveshi Shikhar Samman) for his excellence in field of science & research. His area of work is StemCell & Regenerative Medicine in infertility especially when IVF also fails. Prabhu Mishra is the President of International Association of StemCell & Regenerative Medicine and ace Regenerative Medicine scientist and travelled around the globe for his work. He also wrote an interesting book on stemcells, called StemCell & Regenerative Medicine in infertility. IASRM also conducts various training programs in Regenerative Medicine to create awareness to the community and health care providers.
  • In a glittering ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi, Prabhu Mishra received the trophy amidst a gathering of top politicians, entrepreneurs and artistes.

Aleida Guevara to be Honoured with First KR Gouri Amma National Award

  • Noted Cuban social worker and human rights advocate Aleida Guevara was selected for the first award instituted by the K.R. Gouri Amma Foundation. The jury, chaired by former Education Minister M.A. Baby and comprising Binoy Viswam, MP, and P.C. Beenakumari, managing trustee of the foundation, unanimously chose Guevara for the award for her efforts to rehabilitate differently-abled children and provide debt relief to developing countries.
  • Aleida is also an active member of the Cuban Medical Mission that works to improve the health profile of children in Latin America.
  • The award comprising $3,000, a statuette and citation will be given away by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at a function to be held here on January 5.

Indian Cyclist Swasti Singh Gets 30th Ekalabya Puraskar

  • Indian cyclist Swasti Singh was honoured with the prestigious 30th Ekalabya Puraskar for the year 2022. The award is instituted by IMFA's charitable wing, IMPaCT. Swasti received a cash award of Rs. 5 lakh along with a citation at the Ekalabya Puraskar function held in Bhubaneswar. She bagged two gold and as many silver medals at the national level. Swasti, who has represented the state in several national events and was credited with the best individual brilliance from April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2022, emerged as the clear winner this year (2022).
  • Ekalabya Puraskar, instituted by IMPaCT, the charitable wing of the IMFA, the leading Ferro Alloys producer in the country, in the year 1993, has come a long way to be recognised as the most prestigious sports award of Odisha, drawing parallels with many national awards.

NHPC Wins Best Globally Competitive Power Company of India Award

  • NHPC Limited was awarded as the winner of the 'Best Globally Competitive Power Company of India-Hydropower and Renewable Energy Sector' at PRAKASHmay 15th Enertia Awards 2022. On the behalf of NHPC, U.S. Sahi, Executive Director (EMS/CC/CSR) received the award. The event was held at the New Delhi Institute of Management, New Delhi.
  • The award was conferred to NHPC in recognition of its leadership in the hydropower sector.
  • NHPC has a gross asset class renewable energy capacity of more than 7000 MW.
  • The award also recognizes that NHPC has more than 5000 MW of projects under construction and an ambitious 7000-plus plan for solar capacity addition.
  • PRAKASHmay 15th Enertia Awards 2022 aims to recognize Hydropower projects as major renewable energy assets that enable sustainable development goals through renewable energy portfolio growth.
  • The 15th Enertia Awards 2022 was organized by the ENERTIA Foundation and supported by the Renewable Energy Promotion Association and the New Delhi Institute of Management.

Authors Badri Narayan, Anuradha Roy among Sahitya Akademi Award Winners for 2022

  • The prestigious 'Sahitya Akademi Award' for 2022 will be conferred on authors Badri Narayan and Anuradha Roy.
  • Narayan would be conferred the award for his collection of poems in Hindi titled 'Tumadi Ke Shabd'.
  • Roy will be awarded the award for her novel 'All the Lives We Never Lived' in English and Anis Ashfaq for his novel 'Khwab Sarab' in Urdu.
  • The awards announced for 23 languages include seven poetry collections, six novels, two story collections, two literary criticisms, three plays and one autobiography.

Indian Scientist Professor Thalappil Pradeep Receives VinFuture Special Prize 2022

  • Renowned researcher and Madras IIT Professor Pradeep Thalappil bagged the VinFuture Prize 2022 instituted by the VinFuture Prize Council to honour breakthrough research projects.
  • Thalappil was awarded the 'Special Prize dedicated to Innovators from Developing Countries' for his development of a low-cost filtration system to remove arsenic and other heavy metals from groundwater. The prize consists of a purse of Rs. 4 crore.
  • The award was presented by Prize Council Chairman Richard Friend at a ceremony in Vietnam's capital Hanoi.

Sudeep Sen, Shobhana Kumar Won Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize 2021-22

  • The Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize 2021-22 was jointly won by Sudeep Sen for his genre and formbender Anthropocene: Climate Change, Contagion, Consolation (Pippa Rann Books & Media, 2021) and Shobhana Kumar for her haibun collection A Sky Full of Bucket Lists (Red River, 2021).
  • The winners, awarded $10,000 and a Rabindranath Tagore statuette, were picked from a shortlist of 11 at India International Centre, with the Tagore Prize for social achievement going to Sanjoy K. Roy, producer of the Jaipur Literature Festival.
  • The Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize was started in 2018 to annually recognise literary and social accomplishments. In 2020, the award was won by Raj Kamal Jha, Chief Editor, The Indian Express, for The City and The Sea (2019, Penguin Books), and in 2019, it was awarded posthumously to Kabir for One Hundred Poems of Kabir, translated by Rabindranath Tagore.
